I just moved my office and under our current broadband access (DSL via a router feeding multiple machines, mostly PCs), I've noticed that loading a webpage under Safari is about 10 times slower in OSX than under Vista via Boot Camp. Why would that be and how can I fix it?

Install Firefox, or Opera instead ? :D

Safari is slow for me, dont know why, don't care, cause I went to Firefox and never looked back.

Safari isn't any slower than Firefox on my machine. If it's Safari in particular, I have no idea, but if it's the internet in general, look at your DNS settings and put the OpenDNS servers in there if they're blank.

I think you've got the right idea Eric, based on a little searching I've been doing. But I'm a touch ignorant on these issues; how does one get these "OpenDNS servers" (I assume it's a numeric code) to which you refer?

Thank you Eric. I'll give that a try on Monday and report back.

DNS settings are always what make this happen for me. I think you can pretty sure that if websites just seem to hang for a while then "blink" into existence that this is your problem.

Thanks for the tip! Changing the DNS settings as suggested made a huge difference. We're getting a T1 line put in next month which will make everything better, but at least now I don't have to take a walk while waiting for a page to load. By the way, is there any reason to start an openDNS account and create a network using a single IP address? Will that give me any useful updates or should I just leave well enough alone?
