The Mac version of World of Goo was just released. Go buy it! It's a little bit like Lemmings with softbody physics. Universal Binary, works nicely on my G5. The only drawback is that it's made for 800x600...you can dig around in the package contents and find a config.txt file and change the resolution there, which does generally work pretty well, except some of the UI stuff might be partially off the screen.

I'd played it via bootcamp before, but fortunately when you buy it for one OS you buy it for all. It runs very nicely on my X3100 macbook (though I've only been using 800x600 really, and I've only done the first few levels with the mac version; saves aren't transferable between win/mac versions).

You can get a demo at http://www.worldofgo...dl2.php?lk=demo to see it for yourself.

This is a spectacular and truly unique game. I highly recommend trying the demo. :D

I was reading about this game on a Wii site the other day and thinking "how awesome would this be on my Mac??" Question answered!

The server was hammered this morning but I'm DLing the demo just fine now. I sense there will be much humor in this game.

It is indeed a lovely game. I've been playing it on my Wii and, as crazy as it may sound, I may consider buying the Mac version, too. It just strikes me as a bit odd that there is no preference panel for screen resolutions. The Wii version, for obvious reasons, supports widescreen from the get-go. In their forum they've mentioned that this may be fixed in a future patch. We shall see.

Are you allowed to post about that on a family website?

Although now I admit to some curiosity about the height of my "world of goo."

Yes, because I am awesome. Only 58 people on the entire planet are currently more awesome than me. That means I can do anything I want, and tBC is helpless to stop me since the height of his "world of goo" is inadequate.

Make that nonexistent. I've got tons of goos but only the demo so I haven't bothered other than to experiment with some shapes then tear it down.

What is the point of the last puzzle in the demo? I got every last goo out of the stomach and resting on top of the mouth with a long high tower stretching up pretty much as high as they go. The puzzle is still not completed.

Thanks. This morning I built a ladder over the side down to the ground to see if that was what was expected and I noticed that I could select the eyes, then I finished the puzzle.

I liked the demo, but im not sure if the rest of the game has more challeging missions, that are worth it.. And, Mac og Wii edition? Hmm.

They definitely keep you surprised, even after you figure you've seen all it has to offer. I'd say easily worth the $20.

Yep, totally. You can also try for the OCD flags on all the levels if you're so inclined. Personally I'm not...I managed it on about 25% of the levels, and I can see doing another 6 or so if I worked at it, but the rest seem pretty much impossible. Guess I'm not OC enough. :) I did spend a fair amount of time building my tower though. Did I mention I got up to 31.9 meters? 'Cause I did.

Is building a tower worth it? Anything up there worthwhile?
