Maybe its a bit too early to ask, but when diablo 3 comes out, should i install it on mac rather than windows, or the other way around?

Far too early to ask. But since Blizzard has a history of thoroughly optimising their games for Mac, there's won't be much reason to play it under Windows.

Meh... even a 10-20% performance hit is acceptable if it means I don't need to reboot, not that the performance hit will be that bad or anything.

OSX all the way for me on this one. If a game's available, and comes out at the same time, there's never any question.

I like to listen to iTunes when I play games, (Unreal Tournament + RATM = awesome) so I'll most definitely be gettting this for Mac.

Yeah I think if it comes down to straight performance the game will be fine on either. Blizz writes their software for both platforms so you wont have to worry about anything like a ciderized version of the game. Best part is they always make them cross platform on the same disc so you can install it on both =). I would say your deciding factor should be computer specs unless your running it on bootcamp, in which case im sure performance is gonna be identical on both...if not better on OS X simply because OS X runs smoother than xp or vista =).

As of now there is no word on DX10 support for the game correct, that could be the only feature vista might have over the OS X version...I think...then again I haven't followed the DX 10 scene or if macs can support it or not.

Haven't there been OpenGL updates since the release of DX10? How many of the DX10 features really don't have an OpenGL alternative?

Not many since the specifications of OpenGL 3.0 were released. With some luck, we might see those features in MacOS X when Diablo III is finally on sale.

because its really worth trying to keep your iTunes library updated on both your windows drive and your mac drive?

I've got 22GB of music in MP3 format - and it would be so much of a hassle to drag it back and forth i cant even immagine.

nVidia's XP drivers' OpenGL includes many DX10 features as extensions, though. Apple could provide them, too.

Can you put it on a partition that both OSes can write to?

Assuming you are using external speakers, do you have an iPod/mp3 player you can hook them up to?

I didn't realize you still wanted game sounds. iPod/MP3 player to computer line in along with something that passes it through to computer line out?

Edit: In OS X LineIn is an app that does exactly this. I don't know of a Windows utility.

I agree with this statement. Blizzard is known to keep the Mac app up to date, they've been doing it with World of Warcraft for a few years now. As long as they keep the Mac app up to date with the PC app, then I'm playing in the Mac side.

If I can remember correctly, Blizzard optimized WoW to utilize the Core 2 Duo processor more efficiently on the Mac application.

Yeah, and this history of keeping their mac games up date goes way past WoW. Starcraft has received major support even till this day. Just like WoW with the improved C2D support they updated the game for OS X (the game was released in 95) so you can rest assured that Diablo 3 will be fully compatible and supported by Blizz =). I don't love Diablo, but I'll buy 3 because of Blizzard's Mac support. As long as they don't put some crazy copy-protection thing in there.

They'll probably only do CD-Keys, no way will Blizzard pull an EA.

ea suck quite a bit, only one or two games are good from them.
if blizz turned into ea, it would be like the end of the world!

EDIT: i think that was a bit too exaggerated :P
