The College I'm at offers all of it's students a copy of Microsoft Windows XP. The problem is it's on the website and is an executable.

I have absolutely no idea how to install SP because the simple step-by-step instructions in bootcamp tell me to insert a disk. Can someone help me out?

How big is the .exe file? Is the entire install of XP or just a stub downloader file? Either way, I'd suggest you see if a fellow Windows using roommate or classmate might be able to help you out in burning a bootable disc.

It's around 540 MB.

That will fit onto one CD then. Have you looked into having it burned for you somehow?

It might be an exe, but it's probably just an archive containing an ISO. Extract and burn the ISO to disc (note, do not just copy the file).

Is it through MSDNAA? The .exe file is probably the downloader... unless you already downloaded the .exe and it itself is 540MB, then it is a self extracting archive. For this kind of thing, I've had no problem with Darwine. The Microsoft windows downloader app runs fine in it.
