The pretty fun (and rather destructive) arcade racer FlatOut 2 appears to be shortly on its way to the Mac. No system requirements so far.

Looks good...hopefully this fares better than VP's last attempt to port a racing game (Fuel), which was announced and then sort of vanished.

I've played this on other formats but it would be nice to see it on the Mac. A patch for the OS9 version of Driver would be better though.

I'm not usually interested in racing games that don't include missiles or machine guns, but this one is a lot of fun.

Being a big fan of Carmageddon 1 and 2, and later GTA: Vice City - this looks very exciting!

Well, doesn't seem as if they make the September date.

Has any Mac game ever released on time?

No. As we've previously established, that's like asking for a :pinkpony:.

Battlestations Midway, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Tomb Raider Anniversary (if I recall correctly – except for the PPC version, of course, that seems to have gone AWOL), The Movies Stunt and Effects (at least outside Germany and France), everything Blizzard, most things Sims related, the Age of Empires III expansions...

A Universal (Intel and PPC) version of the game will be made available in the new year.

Is it 2009, yet? Didn't think so. Of course, it'll still be saying that, so we'll be waiting for 2010...

Damn Virtual Programming! They promised us to release this game in September!

And what happens? We have to wait until October 1 for it!!!

No PPC, sadly. (Even though the first requirement is 10.3.9, but that's followed by 10.4.11; odd.) Also:

• Broadband connection for Internet play & Product Registration

Man...that must be some major heavy-duty DRM if it requires a broadband connection for product registration....

The broadband connection requirement is for multiplayer, not registration.

WOW...This game is a blast. I have only played the demo but I am loving it...performance is silk smooth with settings cranked across all my macs, Macbook Pro to a Mac pro fully loaded. Lots of options to adjust so I am sure it will run great on lesser macs. GRAB THIS DEMO NOW...and play the off-road Map with the 4x4, you will be hooked. I have always said that a Racing game has to have a strong **** you factor for you and your opponents, and this game has it in spades.

I will definitely be purchasing this game, but what is the DRM like for VP's Deliver to mac service? Does it allow you to burn a copy for back-up? If it is sucky, than I would rather go for a boxed version.

Anyhow...GREAT QUALITY PORT Virtual Programming, I look forward to more games from you in the future.

When they haven't changed it from their earlier games (and I have no reason to believe they did), it's a one-time online activation. The disk image you'll download can be burned to DVD without any problems.

Just tried the demo too, and agree with everything said. Haven't had this fun for quite some time on my Mac. Performs great on my two year old iMac too. The fast track loading (rare today) and catchy music is also much appreciated.

Thanks VP!

I have to agree, the demo is awesome. Anyone have any luck using nonkeyboard controls? I'd like to use my Madcatz USB controller. It seems to recognize it in options, but pressing any of the controls on the controller gets no actual response.
