Then take the advice of someone that has been ranked at or around the top 1000 in the world in Halo PC, Company of Heroes, and Call of Duty 4: buy a DeathAdder.

The lithium ion battery in my logitech MX1000 still lasts almost a week under heavy use on one charge. Basically I need to remember to put it in the charging cradle one night per week, and I'm good to go.

The lag... Lets just say that I believe in the placebo effect. You will only detect lag if you expect to see it.

That's still more than I have to do.  :)  I don't use my mouse from across the room or anything, so not having a cord has zero benefit for me.

I never understood why notebook users insist on having wireless mice. If you are on a notebook, then you are sitting right in front of your computer. Why pay extra money for something that is the exact same thing?

I just dont like having the cable trailing all the way around the back of my laptop. Add it to a USB hub and youre looking at a world of cables and junk.

I can't remember the last time my cord actually got caught on anything.  In fact I'm pretty sure it's never happened.

I should think that would be the least of your worries--cordless or otherwise, I heard that neither lasers nor LEDs track well over blood stains.

Don't you have a USB port on each side?

If you don't trail it all the way around the back you'll have this bulbus stack of mouse slack sitting next to your hand... pain in the arse. Thats why you have to put it behind the laptop.

I still have the original little twisty-tie thing that came with my mouse in order to wrangle up all the cord.

what AMG said, hes spot on. Thats one of the reasons why the redesign is a good thing, all the ports are on the left side, so all the cables are there too. Its only annoying to one in ten, but seeing as they already had to contend with the Magsafe cable, and the USB port is right next to that, or one removed, its not as bad. On the old design, the USB port is halfway down the body, right about where my mouse sometimes goes.

Nope.  Do some testing . . . you'll find that depending on system power output, interface, distance, interference, and other factors, wireless mice dump an extra 25-75 ms of lag into your input chain.  That's like doubling or tripling your latency online.

I just picked up a VX Nano for use with my MBP. I love my Deathadder, but realized it was a poor choice for this computer - I do pretty much zero gaming on it, and the mouse itself is somewhat bulky. I wanted something compact, with good tracking for photoshop and such, but lag isn't so much an issue. The only thing that bugs me is batteries, but decided to give the VX a shot since it was on sale - we'll see how often I need to change them.

Now my Deathadder can go on my PC, where it'll be more useful.

Ok, so position the base just barely inside the usable range, and you might feel some lag. Under sane conditions, it won't be noticeable.
