Broke the wifes lumi clock, you know the ones that dim slowly to recreate sunset, then half an hour before you wake up start to brighten to help you to wake naturally. Also does white noise to block out distracting noises.

They are £100 and i knocked it off the side while hoovering, oops!

Anyway it made me think that surely someone will have written a freeware or shareware program to imitate this on a mac, but google came up blank.

I can do the white noise bit http://www.blackholemedia.com/noise/ is free and works well.

But the dimming from bright light to dark and brightening back up again in the morning has me stumped.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think it would be better to just buy another clock, because I wouldn't want to overuse my computer display. And a computer display is worth a lot more than 100 pounds.
