Hi!

I wanted to play No one lives forever on my mac but i'm having some trouble with the graphic side of it.
All textures in the game seem to be rainbowcoloured... I've tried a couple of things like changing from 32 to 16 bit, texture detail etc. but nothing seemed to work
Has anyone had this problem too?

Beers!

Can you specify this a bit? What kind of Mac do you have, which MacOS X version, and so on.

Sure,

I have a 2Ghz intel core, 512 mb ram with 10.4.11

My other machine, on which I haven't tried the game yet, is an iMac g4 (half sphere with screen attached) and 10.2 i think

you should try playing it on that PPC mac. something probably got lost in the on the fly translation from ppc code to intel, which is why its going all funky.
Either way, that iMac G4 should be more than enough to handle that game with aplomb.

as an aside, my friend managed to get this effect whilst playing Call of Duty on a last generation iBook G4. Switching texture depth fixed it, but seeing as you already tried that...
Polytetrafluoroethylene to my friends.

Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

If this is an iMac, then I think we have more or less the same computer. I have been able to play it with no graphic problems, once I actually got it to open and stay open. Have you downloaded the update? You might also check out the thread on this forum about mac games and Rosetta on Intel. there are a few posts relating to NOLF that you might find helpful. I had to download the update and delete a bunch of font files before I could get it to work, but it now works just fine except it doesn't go to full-screen.

Hey thanks for the info, I'll go to that forum immediately.
Where can I find the update? Macsoft is down...

Cheers!

I'm fairly sure there is no patch for NOLF 1. (If there were, I would have it archived.) The font issues were with NOLF 2 IIRC.

I've got that game, in fact I was just playing through it again. I cannot find a patch for it and I save all the patches I download. The game app does not have a version number in the get info. I don't think there was a patch for version 1 of NOLF.

I had problems with the graphics in NOLF after going to Leopard on my G5. In my case I found that turning off trillinear filtering in the autoexec.cfg file fixed it.

To back you up:
I found a page that seems to have all of the patches that have come out for MacPlay games so far here: http://files.macplay.com/index.pl

There doesn't seem to be a patch for NOLF, just the second one.

Anyhoo, it works for me, but on the other hand, I am still running OS X 10.4.11, NOT Leopard.

Oh good one! I've bookmarked that page. I'm playing in OS 10.4.11 also for the record. It runs great, there is a very small problem of some voices cutting out before they finish their lines but I have subtitles turned on so it's only a minor convenience. There is some great comedy in those lines though, it's a shame that Quicktime is stepping on them.
