mmm. taste the pixels.

I wonder how well it performs against the aging X1900? I make a lot of cranky faces at my X1900-equipped Mac Pro when I'm in Motion.

according to those sites the difference between the new card and the old is minimal, especially on a first-gen Mac Pro. Pity, I had really hoped to see large performance gains for replacing a 2.5-year-old card. :P

in fact, the Motion 3D test the X1900 was showing to be faster. wtf

Not quite. Those sites were probably comparing either the X1900XT and the HD 2600 in which case the X1900XT is a faster card, or the X1900XT vs the 8800GT in which case the X1900XT has better driver support for some tasks.

Edit: I see what you're talking about, I guess I assumed wrong. I didn't realize there were benchmarks up for the Mac 3870.

Check the ones on barefeats. This card seems to perform very good imho.
