Yeah, your side is intrinsically 'good' and the enemy is intrinsically 'bad'. Of course you have the ability to make the protoganist an arse, but they'll always be a fundementally good arse, and there are plot twists befitting of an RPG, but it's hardly pushing the boundaries of storytelling.

I think its appeal is that it combines better than average storytelling with decent graphics and genuinely fun gameplay, and most RPGs are missing one of the three

fun gameplay is always good. But I'd rather have fun gameplay with a great story.

I don't know why I keep falling back to KOTOR2. I guess that the way they solved, or didn't solve, the question of "why are there people after you" I liked so much. They ask the right questions, instead of giving dodgy conclusions.

You never played, I assume. Well even if you did, tastes vary, I guess. I just don't like the jedi council being "revered" as the "last good instance". Or they never take the blame for anything in KOTOR 1. They just go like "WELL YES ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE UGLY, SIR."

When i was first learning about exchange rates $1 AUS was roughly 50 US Cents!
I just transferred the money, cant wait to get my stuff :) The copy of Crysis is in thai, but it comes with a English conversion disk so thats all cool. Mass Effect is all in english though. its like a 5th the AUS RRP. SHWEEEEEEET DEAL!

Wouldntve bought them otherwise. He maintained that they were 100% Genuine "like you would find in your local store" (offcourse i wouldnt find a Thai copy of Crysis in my local store but if i was in Bankok i would) and he said if they werent 100% genuine then you get a full refund.
The guy from EB Games came to me at work last night and after i got his order i was like "so have you guys got Mass Effect yet?... for the PC" and he was like "yeah man" and i was like "how much?" and he was like "99, but for you 80" flattered i replied with "oh thanks but i already bought a copy off ebay" "oh really?" "Yeah... 25 Bucks" "WTF? is it burnt?" and i was all like "nope" and then after much conversation about the Absurdity of games pricing he said "yeah never buy anything from us or any other store, burn and crack all your games, your not ripping anyone off, we are." and i was like "yeah, i'll stick to Ebay... i like my game boxes"

Well, that was weird. I did not expect that to be said from an EB games employee. Oh well, at least he agrees.

Hey, eb games is like one of those "low-social-security" kind of businesses. If from anyone, I would expect to hear so from an employee. It's like the macdonalds for software sales.

I won't be buying this game until they remove the BS DRM they have on it. I don't fancy "renting" a game for $60. Until game companies pull their heads out of their bungholes and realize abusive DRM only hurt legit customers. I will either way till they remove it, or wait till I can buy it used and the good cracks are out. That way those jackholes at BioWare don't get my money.

Funny, this goes along with the other topic about the stupid DRM in Spore.

I'm against piracy, but when companies do this idiocity, I am forced to "stay legal, but stick it to them however I can in spite". I have principles, and when companies exhibit bad business ethics, then I can't justify giving them my money, no matter HOW good the product may be.

Bummer! Hope you can get it, I had a really good time with this game. I've played it all the way through three times now, trying out different approaches to situations, role playing differently, etc. Lots of fun.

I just hope you CAN play it :(

It seems very hit or miss if you will have a system configuration+driver+software conflict that will cause the game to promptly BSOD your machine. I'm waiting for bioware to release that supposed patch they are working on the clear up all the crashing nonsense.

Best of luck to you! :D
