I wonder how well it will run on the new iMac?

Should run ok, if not at the very highest settings.

PS~ Nobody, how is the quad core?  Was considering getting a quad in my pc, but decided to setting with dual, though my mobo supports quad cores for a future upgrade.

It's great, though not a noticeable difference in games. I picked it up because there was a pretty great sale in the Fall, which let me upgrade from a previous Athlon dual-core system for a ridiculously cheap price after I sold the old parts.

I do some video transcoding, and have been playing around with some 3D on the machine as well, and it definitely tears through that stuff. I'll be glad to have it when some games like Alan Wake start coming around later on.

You probably made a good choice getting a dual core for the time being - you can always swap it out later.

Why the heck do you need an 8-core CPU?

You doing time travel, or prototyping a nuclear power plant in 1:1 scale?

Hehe yeah, could definitely see how a quad core would be great for graphic work, and figure when the time comes to upgrade I got the mobo to supported it so im pretty happy =)...though Lord of the Rings: Online actually runs better on my macbook pro...well not better, but at the same frame rates, the pc actually gets better performance in DX10 graphics than DX9...I dont get it...

But yeah, will definitely be picking up Mass Effect this coming Monday or Tuesday, cant wait =)

I've decided to stop buying my games retail. Mass Effect is $99AUD here. Its around $49.95USD in the us. Australian dollar is trading 1.046 for 1 us dollar as of 4 minutes ago. so that equates to around $52.224 AU. Given high GST costs and Bulk shipping the game should only really cost $60 AU. It doesn't. It costs 99, around 95 American, double the price      . Can any of you guys in the US imagine paying 95 bucks for a game? I don't want to have to. Since there are no Video modes for PC games, i think i will be ebaying all of my future purchases. Screw paying twice the price for the same game.

Yeah, I agree with AMG. It is so very annoying that we (down under) get such crappy prices for all things computer, even the branded hardware fire trucking hell!!! I am really quite annoyed about this whole issue. Cod 4 here is just under $100, and it is not worth more than 70. completely stupid, as Mass Effect is a far better game. It really is despicable that us Australians can get pushed around like that, so easily. The worst thing is, we don't deserve it at all.

So annoying, this is kind of how I feel. :wall:

Liberator.

P.S. Sorry if this has become too much of a rant thing. :)

99AUD is 47GBP. Amazon is charging 26 GBP for the game, so it looks like even we have a better deal than you do :)

Incidentally, DRM or not, you'd be mad to choose Crysis over Mass Effect IMO.

Yeah, exactly. It is like there is a whole huge joke on us. It is a really distasteful joke, I can say that. What is also really, really annoying, is that Apple's hardware is manufactured in China!!! We are closer to china than England and America. It makes me so angry.

By the way, Charmin, if you were replying to me, then I said CoD 4 instead, although, if you didn't: take no heed. :)

The game will either be good or not, depending on whether they made it a lot like KOTOR 1. Because KOTOR 1 was good, but KOTOR 2 was better.

Mass Effect is a good game, and I don't say too many things are good. It's not t3h b3st ev4r, but it is worth playing.
