Just read today that there will finally be a new F1 game! Based on my impressions of Colin McRae Rally codemasters could do a good job. Hopefully they will try to simulate the handling accurately and not go for an arcade type game.

Feral if you are listening a Mac version would be fantastic. :)

True. CMR mac has got to be the best rally sim (for me it's the best racing sim altogether) on the mac. I never noticed it before but come to think of it yeah -- the physics really make it feel like you're racing and grinding dirt and pebble -- not just floating or hovering on a road like other games give.

I would definitely get my hands on an F1 game or any other game by the same developers. We'll just need a good street racing game that runs on a G5 next :P !

if you like CMR on the mac, then dont ever consider getting CMR DiRT. The physics are completely different and very very twitchy, which makes the game rather difficult to get into.

Hopefully F1 by codemasters will be better (and not as bloomy).

DiRT is fun, but yeah, a completely different beast to the prequel. Made more for a 'general' market, and Americanised in my opinion. It's no longer really a rally game, but it's still very good.

Since Feral are obviously doing work with Codemasters, and they already have an F1 title under their belt, if this new one turns out to be any good the chances or us seeing a Mac port should be quite good.

I'm actually TOO good at both TMFPPG and Fable:TLC.

Woah. Thanks for the heads up.

Still tempted to get it though :P The graphics are a strong selling point. If I get a PS3 I'll definitely get it (along with GT 5 Prologue and a couple others).

There hasn't been a new F1 game on the Mac or indeed the PC for a few years now. I looked at getting a console myself for that reason alone but my understanding is that the current F1 game on the PS3 (based on 2006 season if I recall) doesn't have force feedback due to a patent dispute. That would be a big let down after playing games with it on my Mac.

I actually still enjoy F1 CS 2000 on my Mac (I did loads of laps of Monaco after watching the race of TV at the weekend!). It is however getting old and starting to show its age! It always resizes the open windows of any applications I leave running in the background when it switch the resolution on my Cinema Display which is annoying if I forget about it. The other option is Virtual GP2 which is really good in terms of feel (and very hard in simulation mode!) but I felt let down at release by only having a few tracks - many with lots of errors. Jaguargod's HD update for the game is however truly excellent and makes it very enjoyable with the 2007 cars and much more accurate and recognizable tracks. A game like that with every current track and the current cars would be close to perfection. Virtual Grand Prix 3 is in development so the possibility is there but I guess it depends if a big enough and dedicated user base develops when it arrives.
