Just changed my Radeon 1900 for a GeForce 8800GT and successfully downloaded new drivers for the 8800. All's working well, but I'd like to get rid of the "Catalyst Control Panel" for ATI. However, when I try to Uninstall it, the Installer fails. Any way around this, or should I just hide it and let it sit somewhere? Also, I don't seem to have any control panel for the new card (using Forceware 174.93 Vista-64 drivers). Does anyone else have a control panel for the 8800 under Vista?

You have the control panel, but it won't show up on the tray--if I remember correctly, they're not allowed to do that anymore. You have to go into the control panel and muck around a bit . . . try "classic" view. If you can't dump the ATI driver, you could always try to find a free version of an app like Driver Cleaner to nuke it from orbit.

Hey, advice is free around here.
I goof up all the time, so feel free to correct me or let me know if you figure out a better way to do things.

In case anyone else runs into this, the only way you can actually delete the Catalyst Control Panel is by downloading this program from Microsoft: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility After installing it, you can launch it from the Control Panel, and then select Catalyst Control panel for deletion.
