Is Sims 2 Worth getting?

The Sims Online was up for a while. Don't know if there's a Mac port, probably not, and it's been replaced with some EA-branded retardation, but it had its attractions.

I would hold off on getting the Sims 2 if you can. The Sims 3 was recently announced, and while a Mac version hasn't been confirmed, it is as safe a bet as there can be that Aspyr will port it or EA may release it themselves via Cider.
Also, with the first Sims game, right around the time of release of Sims 2 they put together an 'ultimate edition' of the Sims which included every expansion pack. I'd imagine EA will do something similar for the Sims 2, or just get the Sims 3 when it comes out.

The sims 2 is.... The openendedness of the game is gone, and it is annoying. Rather than building them a ridiculously small house with only the bar essentials (bed, toilet) and watching them do nothing but get really stressed, attempt to eat something (even when there is no fridge) , and have sex, my sims have goals and aspirations of their own. so if i don't fulfill these aspirations which is almost impossible to do, my sims get really pissy, and don't do anything at all.
so no, get a game, where you have a gun, and you kill other people with it.

I liked the Sims 2, but given Sims 3 was just announced, I'd go ahead and just wait for that before you blow too much time on a game that's already on its way out.
Then again, if you got the time to blow... hell, why not. That's what playing The Sims is all about anyway.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.
