I would like to know if this is possible before I give up all hope. The Sims 2 was left running b/c I had to respond to an emergency that didn't out to be such an emergency. When I returned, my lot was empty; the family I've been working on for a while was gone and I was so confused (b/c it looked like an empty lot) that I exited to the neighborhood but the lot was saved before I did. I noticed then that the lot shows up empty in the neighborhood and my family is nowhere to be found.

Did I kill off my family by leaving alone to fend for themselves when I went away?
Is there a way to access the saved version before that last save, when they were there?

HELP! :( :( :(

Well, I don't know if this is too late to help... I imagine so. But for the future, no, there is no way to go back to a previously saved version unless you have a backup of the game somewhere. With Sims 2, backups are crucial, because odd things do often happen and without a backup you would lose alllllllll that time spent playing. Even with a backup, you can often lose some progress unless the backup was made just seconds before the problem arose.

But that is weird that they would disappear because you left them alone. EXCEPT if you didn't pause the game, then probably what happened was they couldn't live without you and died. You should check the lot for tombstones. Maybe there was a fire or something and the house burnt down. Could be all kinds of things.
