Hello, I recently acquired a MBP with 2.4 ghz processor and more than enough ram and promptly installed bootcamp and then te bootcamp drivers onto windows. I am using a Windows SP2 home edition and after having installed the proper drivers was finally able to connect my computer to my airport extreme. For some reason though after connecting to my airport the windows asks me for a password. I enter the password I use to log onto airport extreme on other computers and it says it has to be longer and in some different format. I don't really understand windows and would appreciate any assistance you could give me in how to properly connect my computer to my airport.
Thanks for all of your help im sorry if this is a topic that's been beaten to death but i didn't see any similar topics on the first page.

Your wireless network is encrypted, so it's asking for the key. The key is not the same thing as the airport base station's admin password.
If you don't know the key, then here's how to change the base station's key:

Then enter the new key on the Mac and the PC. I'm pretty sure that you need the pre-shared key option, because different implementations might generate different keys from the password option and be incompatible.

Related only to this comment, I'd like to add that the system is set to archive older posts from view only and that one can find many more threads in a particular sub-forum by using the search function. They are all here and available with a search, just hidden from sight otherwise. Just so you all know.

There is also a situation if your using WEP as the encoding method on your secure Airbase network where Windows will not understand your Airbase Password unless it is converted to hexidecimal. I ran into this when I first tried to connect my MBP (running Windows) to my old snow cone Airbase (which does not support WPA encoding, a newer standard, where the hexidecimal thing is not supposed to be an issue). In my case doing the hexidecimal conversion worked. But eventually I retired the old snowcone and went with a newer router that did support WPA. And when I did go with WPA, the hexidecimal conversion was not required.
If necessary, see this IMG thread for instructions on how to convert a password to hexidecimal.
