Hmmm, looks like it could be the end to the game's troubles, but there was no mention of "Fixes Intermittent Lag Fits on all machines"
i wish we had someone in the forum running the game already

Amen to the person wanting a Galactic Civ 2 port, I've written the developers, maybe if more people do they will. I also commended them on the lack of DRM, at any rate it's worth the price of Boot Camp for that game alone.

I don't really see the appeal of Guitar Hero on computer period, it's really a game that screams big TV and people. That does not describe my office/computer location nor most of the folks I know. I don't really see this being a hot seller on Mac or Windows, I have it and Rock Band and it's never crossed my mind that I would want it on my computer. I guess kudos to them for releasing it on the Mac but my response is meh.

WHAT THE FIRE TRUCK!
no seriously look at this
First Australian Guitar Hero 3 RRP
so yeah, yeah that could just be about the same as the US price with the exchange rate, right? right?
IF THIS WERE IN US MONEY THE GAME WOULD COST 147 BUCKS US!
whats the US Price? 79.95 US from Macgamestore Half the australian price! i hope this is a typo or a joke, because there is no way i am paying full price for the wired guitar controller and a bug ridden game.

and just in plain view

Guitar Hero australian RRP
AUS $169 = US $147
North American RRP
AUS $92   = US $79.95

ahh perfect timing, now i'm going to have to completely re-think my cousins Birthday and Christmas present, not to mention my own purchase of the game.

Pardon my french but if thats the real Australian RRP thats just Criminal.

Here in Canada we had a really horrible disparity, too, but with NAFTA it's come down a lot, even if Aspyr is often still way high on specific games. They don't seem to hate us as much as they hate you, though ;)

Let's look at Civ IV:
US$34.99 for PC+US$5 Mac tax+US$10.28 howdy from our buddies at Aspyr. Thanks guys!

I could get Amazon US to ship it directly for cheaper than that, like I do with books and video DVDs fairly often, but Aspyr won't let them. Very neighbourly.

80 bucks, extra is criminal. i got an email from the people who are quoting the price.

Quote

Our price for Guitar Hero 3 is $159.95.  Overseas prices do not automatically translate to comparable prices here in most cases.  The retail price is worked from the margin of the cost of the goods.  If this item comes from overseas then there are many factors that influence the price ie, shipping, import taxes, GST etc.
fair enough, but it doesnt cost almost twice the price to movie it from china to australia. Activision are just pimping their money making possibilities to their full extent. i god hope that no one is desparate enough to buy this.
jeesus christ, now i have to go and get a new present for my cousin.

Aspyr is only publishing the PC version of GH3 in North America and Mac/Hybrid in NA & Europe.  PC Europe and PC/Mac rest of world are being done by other distributors (Activision I believe) so we don't have any control over pricing.  Sorry :(

Are the console versions of GH3 that much more expensive in Australia?  I wonder if there is some weird hardware tariff or something else that effects the price.

Glenda

i think greed is the word you looking for Glenda   sadly and and whats more sad is people will pay it. I was wondering, can i buy from you guys at Aspyr?

And on that note, Does anyone have any ideas of how i could get an american copy over here? not ebay, just look at how much the GH games already go for. I'm not rushed for a copy myself, but i promised my little cousin i would get it for him as his christmas and birthday present.

Easiest way? Find an American friend and have him mail it to you. Instead of not eBay, say yes to eBay too... look for the folks that ship worldwide for reasonable rates. You can probably get stuff much cheaper, even with the shipping.

yup, id agree with frost on this one.
the one thing you have to check out is import laws in aus. How much the postal service charges for handling, and was % increase youll see on the stated value (which should not include the cost of postage i might add)

There would only be the usual 10% GST. I just checked and the Wii version's RRP is AU$159.95. This is consistent with the price gouging we see for console games in general, where RRPs are generally around the AU$100 mark. The difference used to be because the Aussie dollar was weaker, but the distributors simply haven't lowered the prices as the exchange rate improved in our favour.

can you not find an online store that will ship to aus?

btw, those import laws are amazing. in this country, its VAT plus a handling fee from the courier/postal service on anything over 18 or $35... yours is absolutely amazing.

If you know or can find someone in the US (hint), the USPS website has a handy postage calculator that spits out about $20 to get a package of that size and weight to AUS.

I can also volunteer my services from Canada if need be. I can find out shipping etc via airmail. I send goods to Sydney. Melbourne and Perth all the time and they arrive fine. let me know if you want Canada Post's rates (although the game itself might be too much here in the frozen north to make it worth your while ... can't say I've even seen a Mac copy yet here).

Played Guitar Hero 3 on a 24' imac with a 2600 and 2 gigs of ram.

unplayable. the crowd was off. the resolution didn't make a damn difference. the game cant hold itself in good enough condition to be playable on any difficulty above Easy. and get this. the guitar, IS THE XBOX CONTROLLER! it even comes with the xbox button still there. i cant beleive Activision is asking 170 bucks for such a second rate package!
