Hey dudes, most of you are too young to remember, but back in the day we used to have an IRC chatroom on GamesNET (which is now Gamesurge). What none of you probably know is that it's still around! Yes, that's right, #img still exists, it's just been kind of empty for a while. Come keep ChanServ and I company, we're lonely.

Oh my god. I remember gamesnet.. I was really REALLY into a HL mod called The Opera, and had one and a half channels based on that mod, kept it for like years because friends I made in IRC were still in there.... And I talked to my girlfriend over it. Really funny.

While I too am nostalgic for the #img of old, I don't believe conditions are favorable for reviving it--at least not to its former glory. #img thrived in a different time, an era before my polemic musings had been dismissed as "hateful" and an epoch when Off Topic was abuzz with spirited political debate. These things and others all spilled over into #img which, being higher in the food chain, required them to survive.

We are working on it! Maybe FreeNode is a better server? I dunno but I never heard about GameSurge before, not that is matters, bot on Freenode you also got #crossover #apple #macosx - Just an idea

Changing server won't increase traffic. We've had #IMG on gamesurge for 7 or so years, and we used to have heavy traffic back in the days too... but less and less people seems to care about IRC these days... or chatting. There was an attempt with a web based IMG chat a while back too, but it seems it died as well. Probably from lack of interest if I may guess :/

We actually had a few people active on #IMG yesterday though.. more live that I've seen on it for ages

However, I do think people care about just connecting to one server in their client. However, I do mind multiple server, I am usually conenct to 6 of m or more, however, a lot of mac people on freenode where the #macosx channel usually has around 300 people in there.
