Ok got Madden '08 today and I've just been playing with it for about 90 minutes. I'm pretty impressed so far. I'm playing it at 1280x800x32 with everything on high except for shadows which are set to low. I've also been playing it in a window. Smooth as silk. No crashes yet. If there's any problems with Cider I don't see any (yet) with this title. It looks and plays great!

The only snag so far has been the previously mentioned registration problem. They don't yet show "Mac" as an option. No biggie because it doesn't prevent you from playing or anything but hopefully they fix that.

Hi Tacohead,

That's good to know. I ordered the game from the Apple Online Store yesterday, and should get it sometime this week. What is your impression of the graphics?

I'm glad to see all these positive reviews. I think I might pick up my copy tomorrow.

Hopefully my logitech dual action will work with it.

What did you use for controls? I assume, like most would, you used a game controller.

Actually just the keyboard and mouse. I'm more into the coaching, play-calling, and ownership stuff so I don't need a game controller.

I've been hearing a lot of reports of "garbled text" on apple's website. Any of you experience this? If so or if not... what machine are you on? Anyone trying this on a 2.33 mbp?

I'm thinking it's a problem with the ATI Cards. Apparently a driver update will fix this later this month. As for me, still no crashes and no problems whatsoever. :D

I've been trying it out on a 1.83 GHz iMac (original Intel Core Duo chip) with 1 GB of RAM, and it looks and runs great. The only slowdown I have seen so far is when a game is played in the rain. I am using a Logitech Dual Action controller, and the game automatically recognizes it. Also, if you try to play EA online, you get a message that your game needs to be updated.

Here's a question - did you have to do anything speical to get your Logitech Dual Action to work? OS X definitely sees mine when it's plugged in, and Madden 08 lists it as an option when messing around with control schemes, but it doesn't recognize any inputs at all.

Running off of a MacBook Pro in OS 10.4.
I do my own stunts.

Actually, no. The game recognized that it was plugged in and all I had to do was select it as the controller for my team. The actions in the game seemed to be already mapped to the correct buttons and sticks on the gamepad.

thanks, but it appears this patch has nothing to do with leopard compatibility, which is what i am looking for.

nope, i just looked at the specs for it; seems to be related to online gaming. i am waiting to buy madden until i am sure it will run on my already-leopard-upgraded machine. it is unclear to me whether it does or doesn't.
