In a post on the official forums a Basilisk Games representative has offered a brief update on the status of the Mac version of the company's upcoming RPG, Eschalon: Book 1. The first in a planned trilogy, E:B1 will offer an experience inspired by classics of the genre as well as turn-based combat, a large world to explore, and a variety of quests.

Right now the Intel-Mac version runs perfect fine side-by-side with the Windows version. Any bugs squashed when we do the Windows beta means those bug will get squashed in the Mac version as well since the code base is essentially identical.

We have not yet done a PPC compile of the game yet, but we expect few if any problems when we do. We should have a Mac Universal Binary ready to test with Mac beta testers within 6 weeks of the Windows version being complete.

6 weeks for the Mac version... sheesh! Just release the Intel version alongside the windows version, then release the PPC version as a patch! I'm just going to play this on my MBP anyways!

Fine with me, as long as they release the PPC version somehow....

I just hope they don't decide an investment in a PPC version wouldn't be worth the revenue returned.  I've been waiting a long time for this game to get short-sheeted like that.
