sims add ons stuff packs

My kids would like a sims stuff pack. Do they need a full sims 2 already on the mac for the stuff packs to function. I am an ignorant parent so do not shoot me down. Just need help !!!!

From Aspyr's Family Fun Stuff requirements page: "Requires the full version of The Sims™ 2 for Mac OS X to play". I'm sure that's the case for all the other packs as well.
