Yes, I admit it...I've been seeing...another widget!!! ::audience gasps in horror:: You can blame the Ultimate Cube for not having online high scores in The Magical Flying Pink Pony Game days ago. My only excuse is that I did this on a whim, thinking it would take maybe a day, but it took, er, longer. The controls were way harder than I thought they'd be, but anyway, I think it turned out OK, although there's still maybe a bit to polish here and there. Tell me what you think!

What is it? Oh yeah...it's basically a Rubik's Cube thingy, except you can have a bunch of different sizes, from 2x2x2 up to 9x9x9. If you can actually manage to solve a niner cubed, then I hate you.

Controls (these are listed on the back of the widget, but anyway):

Click on a side to select all the cubes on that side, drag if you want to add more cubes to the selection, then release the mouse button. Now rotate the selected cubes by moving the mouse, then click again to finish the move.

Hold control and move the mouse to rotate the cube, or use the right mouse button. (If you're using USB Overdrive, the right mouse button doesn't seem to work unless you're using full-screen mode.)

Command/Apple click on face and drag to rotate the face on the opposite side...this saves having to rotate the cube to get at it, not that it really makes a difference either way. Just another option. Or use the middle mouse button. (Ditto about the USB Overdrive thing.)

You can use the keyboard to rotate the cube instead: arrow keys or WSAD.

The icons do these things:
Toggle moves/timer display (or press T)
Make a new puzzle (or press N)
Reset cube to an unscrambled state (or press R)

Hold shift while pressing N to make the scrambling go slower so you can see it in action. See, no cheating...all puzzles are solvable, really!
Hold alt/option while pressing N to scramble the cube just a little bit. In case you're no good, and want at least a small bit of satisfaction and a tiny reward (lots more fireworks for solving a cube that's been scrambled for real).

Press 2-9 to make cubes of sizes 2x2x2 through 9x9x9 (this also resets the cube).

Press [ and ], or < and >, to change the mouse/key sensitivity for rotating the cube, in case the defaults aren't really working for you.

Note that the scrambling does not reset the cube, so you can scramble any number of times. This is mostly useful for scrambling a little bit 2 or 3 times in a row, if you're so inclined. You can hold down option and shift at the same time when pressing N if you want (in case you really need some help). If you're holding down shift and you get bored watching it, let go and the rest of the scrambling will be done instantly.

Sadly, this widget is 100% certified magical flying pink pony free. No rocket launchers either. However, the reset function is a lot more interesting than you might expect....

Almost completed a 3x3x3:
