Well, I checked the forums, and It doesn't really look like anyone has made a thread pertaining this movie (to the objective of general discussion) that is coming extremely soon.

As I said... discuss...

i myself was just about to make a thread about this
asking what the hell this movie is about?
all the add's have told me so far is that
there will be plenty of homer oriented ownage,
and they have turned reiner wolfcastle into
arnold swarchzaneggar   WHY?!

seriously, does it have a plotline?
to me the simpsons has been dead for years
but i know' ill end up seeing it anyways (pfft
peer pressure :glare: )

i can almost guarantee the film will be centered
around homer, and it will mainly consist of slapstick
humor, with little to no moral value (compared to
the original simpsons, each episode taught a lesson
and had a theme, it wasnt just shameless comedy)

eitherway i hope this is the last we see of the
simpsons for a while. theyve had their run.
bring on the futurama.

Even though it was rumoured that The Simpsons would be stopping when the movie came out, as rumours generally are, it was false. They are going to keep going, although I don't know how much longer.

And as AMG said...

...and they have turned reiner wolfacstle into
arnold swarchzaneggar  WHY?!
I would definitely have to agree with you on that point, and on that The Simpsons have been going for too long, they have had their run, and it is time for Futurama to have its time.

i dont know if its that. its just the scripts
are written in this shameless way. they
have nothing interesting or important
to tell, or teach.
futurama tells its story mainly in the same
manner, but we are used to this with these
characters, and that setting, and it fits.
but this format does not work with the
simpsons, and springfield.
there is far to much emphasis on homer.

The Simpsons are funny, but I'd rather see a Futurama movie.  Futurama is funnier, smarter, and has better and more interesting stories.  It used to be the whole Simpsons family was deranged and dysfunctional, now it's just Homer.

futurama is the best thing matt groening did since... well.... the simpsons.
in more ways than i can count its better. First and foremost, it arrived at a stage of development that took the simpsons 3-4 series to achieve, and had the premise to justify it being weird and stupid which the simpsons lacked during the long period (still going on?) where it ended up being somewhat of a family guy clone, just without the crazy cut aways to something pointless, stupid and unfunny.

Saw the Simpsons last night: It's great, if you like The Simpsons. It's just a giant episode with (thankfully) only one 'star cameo' and a couple of visual effects you wouldn't normally see in the show.

It's very self-referential & knowing. Maybe they take that aspect a shade too far (Fox ticker, fake intermission etc) but I did enjoy it a lot overall.

If anyone pays $10 to see a glorified TV episode of the Simpsons at your local megaplex, you're a bigger dolt than Homer.

Not even worth a rental.

The Simpsons started in 89. Yeah, I would agree with you there Teflon, but I will have to see it anyway, so I know if it is possible to see that movie again. The really odd thing is that bad reviews aren't really going to stop people seeing it.

Sometimes I need to see a thing for myself. Reviews are opinions after all. I kind of agree with others that would rather see a Futurama theatrical movie though... the ones they are making are going straight to video. :P

I've always loved Simpsons but this is rental material for me. I was listening to some radio station and they ran down everything that happens in the movie. I could not believe it and really glad I was not spoiler sensitive for this title. :)

You have seen bad reviews for The Simpsons? All I have seen or read until now were in the range between enthusiastic and extremely enthusiastic. Very much unlike the reviews for the recent Harry Potter, which still is breaking any records - at least it was until The Simpsons came out (don't know if this actually beat Potter).

The simpsons started going down hill when the had Tony Blair on a episode. Ive not seen a single funny once since then, in three separate episodes they made jokes about the metric system.

The movie was enjoyable, but it really doesn't compare to the old episodes. The past few seasons have been very disappointing.
