If you only have OS X, and no classic, but want to install UT and play M:R, this little dandy of a site will be just the ticket for you:

Thanks! I will try this tomorrow.

I wish this was built on a newer engine though.

For Q3 yes, for UT no.

Also, from the FAQ:

Yeah, that's why they didn't make it for Q3, but says nothing about why they picked UT over UT2k4. The dead-end Mac port alone should have been a big reason to STFA from UT considering the roots of Marathon.

Source: arstechnica.com forums

"Metal Gear Solid 2" is a STFA port from PS2 to PC.

"Deus Ex: Invisible War" is a STFA title, full stop.

Because in 2000 when M:R started, 2004 hadn't happened yet.

Yeah, our biggest stumble was not making it on the Halo engine like Stubbs The Zombie.  WTF were we thinking?

In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

Just out of curiosity, how difficult would it be to shift to UT2K4? Assuming that the same model and texture resources were used, are the significant changes in the scripting and whatnot? Did 2k4 change to different formats for the levels/models/etc. ?

Never actually played this one (alright, don't all scream at me) so I'm really enjoying it now. One minor question: is there no targeting reticle in this thing as an option? Yes, I expect tBC to tell me that real men don't need one, but one would think sighting lasers might be standard in a few hundred years, no?

Actually, I was trained to always use my sights.  Real men benefit from their training.  That lesson was so well learned that I played the original Marathon with a little square of clear acetate stuck to the CRT that had crosshairs drawn on it.  You can do the same, sight in using your pistol.  Fire a shot, then move the crosshairs over the divot.

The crosshairs seem to be present in the M:R preferences, but they just don't show up during the game.  I've tried changing them and messing with them but they have probably been disabled in an effort to stay true to the original game.  That is commendable, in my opinion.  Nevertheless, that little piece of acetate is still in my desk drawer, and when I need it, I still stick it to my CRT.

Funny this should come up today, as I spent half of last night at a range and I couldn't imagine not using a sight and actually hoping to hit the target. Thanks for the tip; I'll try it.
