Why are the EA Sports ignoring us Mac users?
You mean, ignoring us so much that they even release the most recent versions of Tiger Woods and Madden for Mac at the same time as the PC version?

heres the deal. Aspyr used to pick up Tiger Woods and port it. But seeing as a yearly franchise doesnt really work in the mac scene (old games still sell quite well over here), they only did 2003 and 2005. Then 2006 was a bad year for mac gaming, and everyone played it safe, so TW2007 didnt get ported, and now EA is doing the Cider thing on their own, and we can probably expect to see more and more sports titles in the future if TW and Madden go down well.
so wait 2-3 months and buy Tiger Woods 2008, which will be almost exactly the same as Tiger Woods 2007, except itll look a tiny bit prettier and have some really really minor changes. That way you support EA in their quest to bring more games to the mac, and get the latest game as opposed to something which is very nearly out of date.

What's a GPU?
I've got a Macbook Pro 2.16 GHZ with 2 Gigs ram.

GPU = graphics processing unit. The part of a 3D accelerating video system that does most of the work. Since you have an MBP, you have a dedicated GPU, as opposed to the GPU built into the northbridge in the MacBook, Mac mini, and educational iMac.

not run into any problems with this one yet, but ive not tried to do much burning with it either... so we shall see.

Doesn't matter if it's popsnizzletake mushrooms you are talking about, the filter will seek it out and destroy it. It's sort of a rabid bulldog of a filter, singleminded and determined, however it's as dumb as a pile of popsnizzle but that's just one of the reasons we love it so.
