I love this old game called Armor Alley
I owned it back in the day and recall blasting away after hours on an old localTalk network (ems were the days by cracky!)

I figured out how to play it, wondered if there were any way to get it to dial out? Anyone want to play?
heh

Sometimes it actually helps to have an old fart around on the forums. You should try NetLink Remote, it is an old classic app that was used to get Marathon to play over dial up back in the Age Before Aleph One. It is not specifically designed for Marathon and it should work with any computer and game that can utilize AppleTalk. It fools AppleTalk into thinking the modem is another computer on the LAN.

Give that a try and see if it helps you on your quest.

thanks tBC!
I actually own one or two licenses for NetLink!
Back in the day I gave one to my friend and we whiled away many an hour enjoying lag filled Marathon carnage... when it worked tho, ahhh bliss!

I recall playing Armor Alley with my boss way back when. I learned to let him win a bit before lowering the hammer. Would be fun to get a few peeps for a 4 way AA slugfest.

Anyone interested? heh

Hello!

I LOVE Armor Alley! It's funny how there are all these new fancy games constantly coming out for the computers but it's the old awesome classics like Armor Alley that I have had the most fun with. I have an original copy somewhere still, but I am planning on moving pretty soon so I will be out of commission as far as online gaming for probably the next few months at least...bummer.

Good luck with your online experiment though!!!

I played thru the game on the lowest difficulty level and it was quite some fun!
Now I am working my way up the 3rd highest difficulty level.

Go grab a updated copy (it plays in a 256 color screen) from [Edit - Link to abandonwarez site removed. Sorry zoinks! - tBC]

The animation is a bit ragged on my 1st rev iMac G5, but tons of fun.

Any AA challengers out there?

I was stowing some extra cables the comcast cable dude threw at me when we went totally cable and lo and behold at the bottom of the box were a handful of Farallon PhoneNET boxen (with extra resisters taped to em!). Some oldies that were the size of an apple and a couple of the tiny inline grey jobs. snif. those were the days... almost makes me miss my IIci...
