Hey everyone. I'm moving soon and am trying to travel light, but I have all these back issues of Inside Mac Games. Backing them up is infeasible at the moment and I doubt they would sell for much -- but they're still cool! I'd feel better about getting rid of them, if I knew someday I would be able to buy them again.

Are there any plans to archive and sell all the back issues of IMG? Not just the DocMaker files, but everything; demos, shareware, add-ons, etc. It would take up too much space now, but maybe in a few years? You could sell them on hard drives, sort of like what the New Yorker did with its back issues.

Anyway, thank you so much!

Maybe you could give them to a friend to hold for you.

OK well unless the reason you are suddenly traveling light is because you just shot your friend...

My Mac friends have moved away to far away places, which I will be doing soon too, except to a different far away place. That's the main reason why I'm traveling light. ;)

Also, I started subscribing in Dec 1995 and would be interested in someday obtaining all the previous issues. Although I realize that the market may not ever be there for them again, since they require ever older versions of Mac OS.

Can I be assured that IMG at least preserves the disk images for historical reasons?

You are going to need Tuncer to weigh in on that one. I'd hate to think that the IMG history is not archived.

I remember, when he worked for Bungie, he appeared in the company spotlight video for an issue of IMG and pointed to the stack of issues sitting on his desk. "Gah!" I nearly yelled. "Put those CDs in some cases!" Ever since then I've been slightly worried about the state of IMG's archive.

OMG, now I wonder if he is the one that has been handling the NetFlix DVDs that I've been receiving in the mail!?!!

I'm just sort of throwing this out there. If the market doesn't ever return for them, maybe the issues could be preserved by sharing the disk images over BitTorrent? It would create a lot of goodwill for IMG, as well as some press.

After all, journalists play a significant role in tracking the history of subjects they cover. IMG is where it's at for Mac gaming, then and in the future.

Perhaps they could be made available online just for IMG pro users?

The only reason I didn't suggest that earlier was because of bandwidth and server costs. But I suppose only a few people would be downloading them.

This would fit nicely with IMG's product offering. Since what's available on the MacGames CDs and DVDs are archives of what's available online, it would follow that the Inside Mac Games disk archive should be available online.

Oh, please just say whether it exists! =)
