I don't think I've discussed this on this forum but I released a personal project of mine called EMUlaunch. EMUlaunch is used to facilitate the launching of video games on up to 15 different emulators from one interface. This is an ideal solution for anyone wishing to use their mac on a tv or replica video game cabinet, without having to navigate through many different applications and folders sans the use of a mouse/keyboard. It takes a small amount of setup, but its so much easier than front ends available on Windows such as MameWah. Sorry if this topic does not belong in General, but there does not seem to be an emulation forum here.

Wow, this looks really promising. Does it support PCSX at all yet? I just downloaded it, and I'll play around with it a little when I have time.

apparently not. from the FAQ:

How do I launch PS games from EMUlaunch?

Currently you can not. A plugin is in the works for PCSX to allow direct launching of ISO files. More information can be found here.

Alexis, thank you very much for your great work and this wonderful app. :)

One question remains: Will there be an universal binary of EMUlaunch anytime soon, as most emulators (cheers for Richard Bannister) are already UBs?

As of today we now have a sub-forum for arcade games. I'll move this over there now... or will I just EMULATE moving it over there???

Well I am certainly hoping that a Universal version will come out soon. I use a program called mProjector to build this app and I've been told that Universal support is coming soon (but no specific time frame). If you are having trouble with slugishness in the program one thing you can do is turn off the sound effects. I've heard varying reports on what performance is like on the intel Macs.

In general there are two places where EMUlaunch can slow down:
Navigating down the list since it loads a png or jpg each time it switches the name, on slower macs turning of the sound effects will help quite a bit on this.

Loading the list for each emulator. If you have a ton of games, parsing the directories may take a few seconds. The worst I've heard is parsing a MacMAME library of 3000 roms. The MAME section is actually a little more complex since it needs to parse the directories and then compare the name of the zip file (which is usually something obscure) to the correct title of the game found in your rom analysis file (which if you have a ton of roms can easily be in the tens of thousands of lines long).

Glad you like it.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I updated EMUlaunch recently. For those that don't know about it, its a front end for emulators such as MAME and Nestopia. It now properly supports SDLMame and Mame OS X so this is good news for anyone having trouble using those apps (considering they are the only options for Intel users) I also posted a tutorial video on the site to help people with setting things up for the first time.

Hi Alexis,

I got this app of yours, and it's very promissing! But as the website sais, it fails to run on Leopard 10.5.6

Have you gotten to run it yet? Does it populate the app with ROM's?

Well, I managed to configure it, was very easy once you know how to setup your folders. However, the other emulators sem to pop under emulaunch therefor rendering this app useless. Am I missing something?

Which emulators are you using? Also do you have anything such as LiteSwitch installed that could be messing with the OS window layering? MAME rom listing is still broken cause of the latest security release to PHP. I've been working on a fix but I need to find some time to finish it up.
