i got this earlier today, and its probably something screwy with my system (the number of hardware and software modifications ive bolted onto it are more than almost any one person that i know), but i get a hard system crash every time i try and load it.

one time i got a black screen with scrolling DOS-like error messages, followed by a status report saying it was waiting for remote access to come and fix it...

that was pretty scary...

Sweet! I forgot about this game! So you can download and play this (cautiously, after Teflon's warning) without owning Freespace 2? Or do you have to find a copy of Freespace 2?

There's too much confusion here.

Yeah--I see that now :) ! I remembered being disappointed earlier that it wasn't standalone. Must have been old or just plain wrong info!

(You wouldn't be confused if you saw season 3. I can't get no relief.)

I was browsing the forum while doing homework, and I noticed that your avatar was perfluoroalkoxy polymer resin, not poly tetra fluoroethylene. I had to look it up for my homework for a micro/nanolithography class. Teflon is very etch resistant, and due to the bonded Fluorine, it stands up to Hydrofluoric acid(nasty stuff, but very good at eating through Silicon Dioxide) very well.

I was able to download it from here:

Runs wonderfully on my iBook G4, but hook up a joystick, you are going to need it.

...and my wife laughed at me for getting fragged by a toaster on my first mission.
