So..I was wondering. When a game in the Macgamestore is listed as "backordered", such as "Return to Castle Wolfenstein", does "Backordered" really mean that there are more on order, or does it mean "sold out, not to be restocked"? I just wonder if I should watch there for the game, or is it gone there forever.

Thanks!!!

Douglas

Assumptions are dangerous, but as you know, Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a real old title. So I'd assume your latter presumption. :)

If that was the case, they'd just say "out of stock". If the title still sells, they'll get more. Halo is old but still sells, after all. So I would assume that "back ordered" means just that. (Of course, just because they order more doesn't necessarily mean they will actually get any more.)

BackOrdered - 1. Order a product that is currently out of stock, to be fulfilled when new stock arrives

If the stock was permanently out of stock I would assume it would be labeled as "Discontinued" or something similar.

It just means the IMG Store has an order for more stock and your order will be fulfilled once the stock arrives.

If you want to be 100% I am sure there will be an email address which you can contact and ask them.

Questions and comments about the IMG Website Network should go into the IMG Website Network Feedback sub-forum. I'll move it there now.

To interpret that "backordered" means something specific assumes the listing is up to date. The spectrum of the meaning of "backordered" :) 1) we've ordered it and are expecting it soon, 2) we've ordered it but that does not mean we will get any, especially if your talking about an older Mac game, and 3) the listing has not been updated to reflect current reality and the product is discontinued.

That's kind of what I was thinking about "Return to Castle Wolfenstein". My guess is that option #3 is the correct choice.
