There is a way to run the Baldurs gate 1 game using the Baldurs gate 2 engine, which works under OS X, but I cannot remember at the moment where the file is or what it is called...I'm sure that if I cannot remember, someone else here can though...

I have heard of easy tutu but I need to get tales of the sword coast. From what I can see u still need classic though to install bits of it.

No, the BG1TuTu Assistant will make a full install of BG1 for you without running anything in Classic.

Yeah, I'm running BG 1 on my Intel iMac. Runs like a dream. I followed the Mac EasyTutu Guide and files that Tesseract linked to. Performed the installation on a G3 Mac using Mac OS 9.2.2 and X.2.8, then transferred the entire install to my iMac over my wireless network. I'm going to burn the installation to a DVD so I never have do it again. Took me a couple of hours, but most of that time was making the clean, full installs of BG 1/TotSC and BG2: SoA.

Post back if you hit any snags and I'll try to help you from memory.

I've tried installing easy tutu a couple of times using a windows copy of BG and TOTSC from the 3 CD plus edition. Generally the game runs alright (at least around candlekeep, as far as I've played it). Unfortunately everytime I try to use the journal the game crashes. I've installed the tutufix v17 which supposedly includes a fix for a journal bug, maybe I'll try without it. I certainly can't recommend the BG1 GUI. It looks great but requires 3D acceleration turned on which is a HUGE performance drag on BG2 in osX. Even with the latests patches 3D accel + tutugui + tutu = a bloody slow game even on a 2 gig g5 imac.

EasyTutu already includes all outright fixes from Tutufix, in fact the Core fixes component is supposed to be skipped if EasyTutu is detected. Are you saying that you've indeed installed the Core fixes on an EasyTutu install? Also, by "use the journal" - do you mean making a journal entry manually?

What kind of graphic card are you using? From what I hear, 3D acceleration only causes slowdown when used with nVidia graphic cards - there's certainly no slowdown on my G5 with an ATI Radeon card.

sorry this has been a while but i finally got a throne of bhaal cd after losing mine. For the easy tutu did u install it on a dual boot machine? my problem is my old imac is only in classic 9.2.2. I am wondering if you know if i do the full install of BG1 and then put it on a flash drive to my intel mac and continue the tutu install from there if that will work. I posted the question to the guys at macinfinity boards to.
If not im gonna hav e to find a dual boot system that is pre intel i guess?
Thanks

Why are you trying to use the assistant to install BG1 if you already have it installed?

well in the faq it says even though you have installed it you have to do the bg1tutu full install to properly install the game. Even if you did a full install through the BG1 disk it doesnt install everything tutu needs apparently

Oh, right. You somehow got a non-full install? The BG1TuTu Assistant will make a full install from scratch, i.e. it copies everything you need from the CDs. So you're saying that the "Make a Full Install" menu item is greyed out? It seems to work for me on a Mac Pro running 10.4.10.

ok. Thats what i originally thought i had to do. When i put CD 1 in, I run the assistant. I click on the make full install under file. Then it asks me to find a file to open. When i browse the directory i choose my BG 1 cd. The only file it lets me open is the BG1 installer. When i choose that i get a error message saying "An exception of class NilObjectException has occured. Program must shut down." I am unable to select any other folders on the cd to install.
When you did your install what file did u select to begin the install?
Thanks:)

I couldn't get BG to play nicely even on a 2Ghz G4 Powermac so haven't even attempted since I got my intel iMac. I instead use the old PC version I have via bootcamp which, while not ideal, does work.
