I don't know how well these will go down but here goes :)

1. Please stop covering "casual" games, judging by the forum nobody seems very interested in them. It makes navigating the network a lot more difficult because I have to skip several Breakout clones to get to the Preys and AOE3s of Mac gaming.

2. *edit* I am wording this poorly, I'll try again later :P

3. Following on from #2, guides! Useful information about the games (not cheats or walkthroughs) such as consoles commands, how to enable certain options, known bugs (and how to get around them), Rosetta performance... WSTE M's widescreen games page is too good to be just a blog, it should be on the main page. Same with some of the information on the forum.

4. Download speeds for IMG Pro users on Macgamefiles are really erratic. Even old files that are obviously not being hammered like today's Prey demo can be very slow. I am not even convinced that Pro status gives any speed advantages.

I agree with this, while I don't think IMG should just "stop" covering them, I just wish it was toned down a little bit, I've given up looking at the IMG news because it's all about some random Tetris-like game.

Like it or not, the casual game market is fairly substantial, and there are a lot of people who like those kind of games.

Yes, I like games with more substance as well; just saying how it is.

Indeed. The majority of people who would bother coming on this forum are probably interested in more of the AAA action titles that come out, rather than the shareware. That would be the reason you don't see many shareware fanatics here. But the shareware industry is booming.

I am not saying that casual games are unpopular, I just think that most IMG members aren't very interested in them and that it's a bit jarring having a review of a Scrabble game next to AOE3.

I'd say, going by various forum posts here and there, a lot of us play casual games at least from time to time, but generally they aren't in-depth enough to warrant a lot of discussion. They are, after all, casual. :) So going by number of forum posts isn't really a good idea. You're quite free to ignore the stuff you're not interested in; I think the point of the site is to be "Inside Mac Games," not "Inside Mac Games That Appeal to Aika". ;) My only complaint is that the review scores are too often inflated...there was a period recently where IMG reviews were more realistic, but unfortunately it seems that was just a phase.

And I'LL say that the casual market is huge compared to the A-List market "users" of IMG. The sales alone speak for themselves, and the hits as well to articles of casual, vs articles of non.

Asking IMG to drop the best thing for it right now, is basically asking IMG to just shut its doors and close shop.

Mostly only the A-list people come to the forums. The casual gamers are just that, casual gamers, and do not desire to participate in constant posting in game forums about every little new demo or awesome new actioned packed title.

I dont know if a Pro feature could be added that hides all casual/shareware related news and information. Such a feature would be a huge undertaking, for such a small percentage of people who would use it.

I don't mind reviews of casual games. I'm just wondering why several AAA titles haven't got a review yet. Where's Civ 4 Warlords? Imperial Glory? The last two Sims 2 expansions? There haven't been that much top games last year, but some of them didn't even get a review here.

You mean a huge waste of time.

If people don't want to read about some shareware title, is it so hard not to click on the link and just skip to what you do want to read?

It's a bit like asking a news website to not show anything international because you don't want to know what's going on outside your back yard. Why not just ignore the international sections and links of their website instead? Easier for you, easier for them.

I don't play with shareware much either, but... come on, people.

Not really sure why some people consider casual games the bane of civilization.. ...I mean, people complain that the Mac game market is so small and therefore having such a small community to support it. Casual games appeal to just another set of individuals that increases the community and hence the amount of people interested in games. They will then hopefully join the IMG community. Besides, I enjoy playing a good casual game when and if I have a few minutes to kill, rather than getting sucked into the latest and greatest AAA title, which requires much more time. I like to play them as much as the next person. Yes, if you don't like to look at something skip over it. It can't be that difficult to do, can it?

Also, it's probably a lot easier and quicker to write a review about a short casual game than it is to a to write a good review about a lengthy AAA game - unless you want to have a poor review - which of course would prompt people to complain....

Yes, whilst my suggestion is probably a bit extreme can IMG at least weight the coverage a little more in favour of the "big" games? :) There are currently eleven reviews linked on the front page of which nine are for casual games and one of the "big" games is a football simulator using last season's team sheets! Football Manager 2007 would have been a better choice as it is both up to date and the more popular of the two series.

Good idea. Exactly what "big games" should be covered?

No, no, no! You all don't seem realize that IMG is all about me! Everyone else is either non-existent or doesn't matter in the long run! They must only cover the games that I want to read about!
