Most other gaming websites have cheat sections...1up, ign, gamespot...
I thought it might be nice if IMG had that.
Thoughts?

Promoting cheats is a good way to ruin reputation. Posted Image

Keep playing a game 'til you beat it; without cheating - the way it was meant to be. ;)

such a goddarn cutie is our the Cheat.

bless.

um... and yeah, it might be an idea to get a section for cheat codes or something... I mean, it would be relatively simple to pilfer the internet for the major game's cheat codes. Itd take no more than 2 days to sort it out for the top 50 games...

maybe have it as a wiki type thing...

Ok!
I don't cheat in every game. But some games i do. Take THPS4 for example it is pretty hard for me to get all the way to the end without cheating. So i type in my perfect rail "BELIKEERIC" cheat and i can beat the game cuz i don't have to balance when i grind. Other games though like Jedi knight 2 i beat without cheats and then go thru the game with cheats because its a fun way to replay the game.

It is an opinion, I will admit that. But I have seen cheats go too far in online games: wall hacks in MoHAA, illicit modifications in Red Faction - great ways to ruin great games. And IMG wants to support that? Once you open the cheating gates - where will it end? There is no end of cheats. Once you approve one for public display where will you draw the line on the other cracks and hacks? Do you ignore the EULA for every game ever produced and distributed?

One of the reasons I joined IMG was for the very fact that THERE WAS NO CHEAT SECTION!

I am sharing my honest and honourable perspective.

Is that so wrong that I need to be insulted?

Cheats where put in for testing purposes. So the testers can test out certain things without being killed. :P I happen to think cheating is a problem and some people think they must win at any cost so they cheat at everything but when you cheat at everything (including tests at school) who are you cheating? Yourself... and when you cheat at multiplayer games you also ruin the fun for others. I can probably think of some people who never even played the original Doom without typing IDDQD but then these same people complain that the game is mindless, and they lose interest. Well it wouldn't be so mindless if you didn't use those damn cheats! *gets off of soap box*

There is a significant difference between a person cheating in a single player game, and a person cheating in a multiplayer game. Especially when the game itself has the cheat codes built into it by the developers. I have never seen a game where the single player cheat codes function in a multiplayer situation. Besides, if you want to lump modifications in as cheats, where do you draw the line on that? Are we not allowed to use any single player mods that somebody else classifies as "cheating?" And what about well accepted multi player mods? I would think a lot of Desert Combat (among other major mods) players would bristle at being labeled as cheaters for using a conversion to a game.

Bottom line, I detest the use of hacks in online games. If you want to play online, you should play by the rules that govern all players. But what people do in their own single player games is up to them. If I want to remove every enemy in the game and waltz to the end so I can watch the ending, that's my own business. I fail to see how doing that (or offering another person assistance in doing it) hurts somebody else's enjoyment of the game in any way.

um... im pretty sure we werent talking about cheats for multiplayer, and wall hacks etc. etc.

i was talking about cheat codes like God mode and infinite ammo etc. etc. in Single-player... i never cheat in multiplayer, and think that unless its as a joke between friends, that its just plain wrong...

Ok answer me this, if there is no possibility for you to lose where's the fun in that? In my post I mentioned multiplayer but that's not what I myself was focusing on. I also said cheats where mainly put in by the developers for testing purposes. If you have to test a game and you want to test a certain thing it's inconvenient for you to be killed after two seconds and not being able to test a certain thing. I've actually had friends tease me for NOT using cheats like in doom whenever you fire it up they always had this thing for wanting to type in all the cheats for whoever is playing. Who here still types in IDDQD, etc. while playing the original Doom? Raise your hands.

If a game is so difficult that you can't continue no matter how much practice you have I call that bad game design.

I doubt any respectable site like IMG would post 'hacks' to cheat online gaming which creates griefing and loss of gameplay for other players. Cheating in ONLINE games is bad, and not what 'a cheat section on a website' like this would be. I didnt even think about that, as I dont even consider those cheats, but rather hacks, and vile heaps of crap that only loser idiots use because I'm constantly shoving rockets up their asses :D

However, there is NOTHING WRONG with allowing people to cheat on their own single solo play game with codes or trainers or things like that. As they hurt no one else but themselves.

Make sense?
