The problem with bittorrent is that it assumes that there are lots of seeders which means a high download speed. The download ain't working yet as a bittorrent because no one apparently is doing it that way and there's no one to share with!!!!

Grrrrr.

[And yes, I was supposed to be a Pro member after placing second in a Unity contest but never got it sent to me. Yeah, had a bad day at work.]

EDIT -- Now one hour and 13 minutes later and not a single bit via bittorrent has downloaded.

I don't understand why it's downloading at like 1 - 10kB/s I thought Bit-torrent was meant to be faster than http.

This is pissing me off me off I would atleast like to get 100kB/s.

Why the hell can't they have http download like they had for Quake 4 and CoD2 demos.

I don't want to wait 2 days when it could be done in few hours WTF!

Or you could just quit your bitching, pony up for an IMG Pro membership, and nab it in just under an hour and a half.

Bittorrent is only faster if you have a lot of people seeding the file.

The reason that they only offer such a huge download via HTTP to IMG Pro users is because bandwidth costs money, and bittorrent saves IMG a lot of bandwidth.

so they did...

i got it, and i kinda like it..

its just getting used to the controls, which i didnt look up before i started playing...
At the settings it chose for me (check the sig), the first relatively small battle scene ran pretty well.

depending on the other scenario, it might get this game... or ill just get AoE3 first... its actually hard to decide. two great games from a similar era!!!

Well the demo runns partically bad on my core solo mini not surprisingly.

But it doesn't seem that it's the GMA950 thats the problem since changing the graphics settings didn't change the performance. And the readme mention that the game is very CPU and RAM bound.

So if you have a mini or a macbook with 1.83GHz Duo and 1GB of RAM it should run well, best you try the demo first though.

BTW the desert battle runs heeps better than the hannover battle, I don't know why since theres heeps more units.

well... it runs fine for me... and im on a lesser CPU than you...
I actually think its simply cos the integrated graphics arent supported or optimised for in any way what so ever.. It runs pretty nastily on the 6200, but I can turn the settings up a bit (seriously, play it at 1024x768, at least!), and the performance is pretty much the same.

but yeah, the desert one runs better here too..

either way, just try the demo a gauge for yourself.

The demo didn't run particularly smooth on my C2D iMac.  Issues arose mainly when cutting from the in-game to the main menu and such.  Resoultions would change and text would appear to the extreme left of the screen when hovering over the battles, etc.

I played the first battle, which was fun.  I did get some motion sickness from the camera angles.  Ill have to get a handle on that.

Yeah, an http link! Downloading at work (dual fibre lines) at over 400KB/sec ... only 34 minutes for the download. Sweet.

yeah i got that. That is a mix of problems with Flash (did you notice how the "main menu" appears in a window and then when you click on a gaming option, it launches another app?), and the fact that said Flash application/menu thing is PPC only...

evidently, they deemed that seeing as the actual game is Universal (dig into the file and check out all the binaries' properties), itd be alright.

id prefer it if the camera worked exactly like the one in Myth... now THAT was how you go about handling a 3D RTS camera.

I put the res up to 1600 x 1200 and there was no difference in performance between that and 640 x 480 and at that res it looked worse then quake1.

But your probably right since the GMA 950 is not at all supported.

Have to wait and see what the performance is like on Duo macs with GMA 950.

Could be my lack of RAM as well since I have 512MB - 80MB.
