Freeverse today released Burning Monkey Solitaire 4, the latest iteration of the popular Mac solitaire series. The new version features a brand new OpenGL engine, support for widescreen monitors, animated card effects and native support for both PowerPC and Intel Macs and over thrity solitaire variants.

Full of "easter eggs" and hidden animations, lousy jokes as only monkeys can tell them, and the only game on the market with a "bagel" button, Burning Monkey Solitaire is, well, unique. It also plays a mean game of solitaire with multiple undoes, casino scoring options and the World's Most Extensive Cheating Mode?.

Ian Lynch Smith, President of Freeverse, has said; "This update will allow new MacBook and iMac owners to have the best Burning Monkey Solitaire experience yet. Harnessing the speed and graphics power of the Mac to play solitaire is what Freeverse has always been about". Mr. Smith then picked a gnat out of his eyebrow and ate it.

Burning Monkey Solitaire 4 is just $24.95. It is a free upgrade for registered owners of previous versions.
System requirements for this version include: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater, 64MB RAM, 200MB hard drive space. The previous version of Burning Monkey Solitaire is still available for users with older hardware.

Noticed there's still a day left? They won't throw out the biggest thing until the end.

By the way: is it right that there's no demo available?

No demo of what?  There's a Burning Monkey Solitaire 4 Demo here:

We try our hardest to do a demo for every game we have.  Only a VP title or 2 that we distributed lacked Demos.

I think this week rocks, thanks Freeverse!
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Ah, indeed. Thanks. I was really wondering about this.

But maybe you should fix your page a little bit. Try this: Click on "Download" at the top of the page, select "BMS 4" in the list, click on "Try it" and see what you get. "No Download available".

BTW: is this with 472 MB the largest solitair game ever? ;)

How bizzaro.  I see the problem, it's doing cat "osx" instead of "mac"

And yes, it's a pretty darn big Solitare game, but how many Solitaire games do this?

Great. ;)

The easter eggs are as great as ever.

But I have to admit that I'm a tiny weeny bit disappointed. I somehow expected a bit more than just a few graphically improvements - especially considering the file size. But okay, the update is free for owners of the previous versions - so not much to complain about this.

The major changes were under the hood.  You may not notice but it's a new OpenGL rendering engine now.  And come on it's a UB!  And that was no small task.

I'm sure you're right, but still: at this size I almost expected Burning Monkeys in 3D with high-end shader effects and motion-capture animations.
