Another year goes by. Still stickied ;)

Need a new sticky of "Games that won't run in Crappy Lion" and "Why you should not upgrade to Lion".

I still say you guys should just partition your drive and dual boot, or use Parallels and run Snow Leopard in it. If you've got a tower, stick a second drive in it and use that one. I've been running my G5 with my primary drive on Leopard and secondary on Tiger for forever so I can do a quick reboot and still play OS9 games on it, without being lagged to death in other tasks by Tiger's ancient code.

I still say you guys should switch to either using crossover or wineskin for those old games. Would use a lot less space having to partition your drives anyway and you don't have to reboot into obsolete OS'. ;) For VERY old games you could use sheepsaver. :P

Some macs won't even let you install an older OSX on them. Which is why I won't buy a new mac, as I don't want to be forced into Lion =p or Mtn Lion. Have no desire to use either of those OSX versions.

Besides, games like Unreal Gold, UT'99 and Deus Ex are simply better there in wineskincrossover with the latest renderers. Even without those you can have actual working music and detail textures and other settings the Mac versions didn't allow like custom display resolutions and FOV. Then you can apply high res texture packs if you wish. Seriously, they've been getting quite a bit of unofficial updates (bug fixes, and also optional improvements) and the Mac versions remain buggy with no music and even detail texture settings didn't work the last time I checked. There's no rational reason to hang on to those old mac versions of those games.

I'll have to look into Wineskin, but I've never been able to get SheepShaver to not run like complete ass. My last attempt was 2010 though; has it had some decent updates?

For that I was recommending it for pretty much very old games like the Mac version of Wolf3D. I've ran for example Deus Ex in there before not half bad all things considered. But I highly recommend WINE and the latest DX9 or OpenGL renderers and Deus Ex New Vision mod instead. Same goes for many old UE based game really.
