IMG has just put the finishing touches on its review of the MacBook Pro. Taking a look at the 2.16 GHz model, we take a look at some of the new features, game performance, and early impressions of Boot Camp.

I think I did some kind of crazy war dance when the MacBook finally arrived, much to the amusement of my mail carrier. Apple certainly knows how to make an impression – not only was the box the MacBook came in eye-catching, but even the styrofoam packaging was designer, embossed with a pattern and the words "MacBook Pro," as if Apple wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I had blown nearly three grand on.

just out of curiosity, why did you spend large for the extra 0.16 GHz of speed instead of getting a 7200RPM HD?

also, i hope that we can get some nice performance comparisons between different MacBook Pros from Macworld soon. for example, it would be nice to see how XP benchmarks duplicated on the 1.83GHz model with a 128MB Ati x1600 perform, or a machine the same as yours but with the faster HD to see what impact it has. without this kind of analysis a review in isolation doesn't help guide anyone to buying the computer that best fits their needs and budget.

Simple:  a 7200 RPM drive does practically nothing for you.  ;)

A few reasons:

- A few friends noted that the 7200 would likely drain the battery noticeably faster.
- I can always upgrade the HD later, but probably not the processor.
- Eh, what the heck.

How can a built in iSight be a con? Built in iSight is a pro in my opinion! ;-)

Ah well, everything's relative.

Just for the record, thanks for keeping things civil here. You wouldn't believe the number of emails I've gotten regarding the review (or maybe you would, those of you that have done reviews before). Half of them accuse me of being paid by Apple to endorse the MBP, the other half accuse me of hating it and trying to bring it down. Almost all of the emails are poorly written (grammar, spelling, incredibly hostile). You'd think I had sole dominion over the future of Apple.

I'm used to fallout from reviews of games, which come with the territory. The usual "omfg wut ur crzy dis g@me iz a 10 lolz" replies don't bug me so much. Apparently, hardware reviews are on a whole different level.

I thank the 1% of you that actually submitted tactful, intelligent arguments or comments.
