Aye, but if we keep showing that we still want it after all this time, it surely can't hurt...

We could just keep PM'ing Glenda:

Quote

Is it ready yet?

We could just keep doing that and see if she answers? :P

But seriously though, I think it just comes down to the point of if you want to keep pressing the matter by posting about when it's gonna come, to if you don't see the need. I myself don't see the need because I'm already sure Glenda knows that we want that universal binary patch really bad, don't we?

Liberator.

That's just what I though. ;)

Then yes, I see the need.

You're not one of those, "Search, it's been talked about" posters, are you????

No, no, no. Not at all. Not at all. I'm just one of those lazy posters. :P

I just generally don't see the need. that's all, but I'm not trying to stop you, of course. ;)

not necessarily.
Glenda said that the reason why it was taking so long o come up with anything concrete as regards a yes or a no was because CoD used a heavily modified version of the Q3 engine.
I wouldnt put it past aspyr to just put it on the backburner for a while till someone has the time. Take KotoR as a prime example of this. that patch was released only recently.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking, apart from the Q3 engine thing (I didn't even know it was from the Q3 engine). I wouldn't think that Aspyr would just abandon us and the universal patch, would they?

By the way, have they done it before, or not (because I don't know)? ;)

Same for me. I am getting ready to either buy either the next gen. iMac when it comes out or a MacPro. Can anyone give me feed back on how well COD and CODUO run on the Intel side under Rosetta? Thanks in advance.

It's fine in multiplayer at least. UO gets a constant 60 fps on my Mac Pro w/ X1900.

i think there was a universal patch all along, according to Macgamefiles it says this:

"This is a universal patch for Call of Duty and Call of Duty: United Offensive. Do not download it twice if you have both games."

maybe it could be wrong though...or are they working on a proper patch?

It means universal in the sense that it patches both CoD and UO. That patch was released before the Intel switch, and thus before Apple started using the word "universal" to refer to fat binaries.

Oh and just to bring this thread up to date, Glenda Adams said on the IMG Podcast that the CoD UB is now so far on the backburner that it seems unlikely that it will ever see the light of day.

Even if it is an old game now, the multiplayer UO is still very active on the net, I just hope that rosetta will have a long life and that future machines will allow to play with the same comfort and pleasure as on a G5 2X2 with an X800XT.

Works OK (peak 55fps or so) on my MBP 2.33GHz, but I would still prefer it being native knowing it could be smoother...

I wish we could get a timeframe (yes, I know, I know), just so we can say, "well, this ship has sailed, time to move on." I've been hoping for an update, but if I knew it weren't coming, I could go and get a life or something. :D

sorry, but its time to move on and get that life of yours. In the podcast interview with Glenda she revealed that CoD has gone the way of Deus Ex and youll have to keep playing it under Rosetta. Luckily though, performance isnt all that bad with adjusted settings...

sorry bout that.

yeah, rosetta is a little decent but i would like ot see how it would perform under a ub patch,

Just one Question
has any of you been getting a very slight mouse delay? Many of you probably think a very slight mouse delay would be nothing but when i play in All rifles server, precision is very important!
