How to edit the resolution the game is not a mystery.  I'm cannot, however, get this to work successfully.  I can only ever view the game (well, the demo actually) in a 4:3 stretched mode and cannot get it to display in a regular 4:3 (with the black sidebars) or a true widescreen resolution.

I tried "hacking" the shortcut to display 1152 x 720 but the game wouldn't even launch.  Then when I tried it at 1440 x 900 (just to test, because the x1600 can't handle the 1440 x900 w/ 4x AA), the game launched fine but didn't chang the resolution at all, it went back to the settings I had before 1152 x 864.

The stretched 4:3 mode isn't terrible, but it's bad enough that I want to try to change it.  What have you all done?

I'd look for info at the Widescreen Gaming Forum.

I already searched there and linked to what I found, but it didn't seem to work and I think it might have something to do with using the game on a Mac, like maybe the game will not accept this "hack."

I'll try to find time for a detailed look at the topic. Sorry, in a hurry now.

Now that I've installed the full version of BF 2 and played it a bit, I see that it's not distorted at all.  The HUD is a little stretched, but it doesn't look bad at all.

WidescreenGamingForum.com is great resource, though.
