i really hope we see these expansions...especially with the whole Thrillville and Atari vs Frontier debacle.  It makes me a little nervous about whether or not we will see them released.

I guess no-one here has cared to glance at the most recent mac addict magazine.

Go ahead and do so . . . I know you want to.

Vague?

I have it right here, all 80-something pages of it, what exactly are you referring to?

Buy the magazine!   :)  But until you can get your hands on one, RCT 3: Soaked is going to be released by Aspyr in August.  Soaked is a water park with all the water attractions you'd expect.

that is good news. I still wonder why Aspyr doesn't say anything or update their site about it.

Who told you we can't port SimCity?  I'm not confirming or denying that particular game for Universal but please don't just post stuff like this as if it is a known fact.

The 100% truth is we're still evaluating which games we're making Universal.  The ones we are certain of are Doom 3 (released), Sims 2/University/Nightlife (soon) and Spiderman 2/Shrek 2 (released). High possibilities include Civ 3 Complete, Star Wars KOTOR & Jedi Academy.  Others we are looking at but haven't decided include RCT3, SimCity, Call of Duty, and about a dozen other games.  No game has been ruled out by Aspyr, and I'm the person who makes that final decision.

Glenda

Dear Glenda,

Thank you for the response on this. I have yet to upgrade to an Intel Mac because I fear that all the games that I have bought will not run well.

Is it possible for Aspyr to create a new section on its website called 'Universal Status', like Project Status, giving us a status of which games are getting upgraded, which are not? If not possible, a official statement on the website would be nice as well.

I for one would love to see Sim City 4/Rush Hour, the Medal of Honor series and the Battlefield Series be 'upgraded', but there are also quite a few Aspyr games I would like, but these three are top of the list.

I suspect soon as Sim City 4 be upgraded I too would upgrade.

Or do I have to buy WindowsXP and SC4 for Windows and build my Intel Mac with Boot Camp?

Thanks for your time,

Michael

You know, they usually list any universal patches they're working on in their monthly newsletter.

Hi, first post.  Would there be any chance that with the universal update there could be multiprocessor support?  I'd love to take advantage of all my G5's power.

Highly unlikely unless the Windows version already has that feature. Does it?

Nope, but still, not many PCs have dual processors.

Plus, Windows multiprocessor support is only included in XP Professional.  Most of the user base has Home, thats why most PC games dont bother with it.

I just hope the UB patch will be released soonish. I just bought the game with a few others for my new iMac, but it seems I'll have to delay playing it until that patch rolls out. Under Rosetta it's just unplayable with the ten-some-second delay every time you try to select something for building-purposes.

Still, doesn't mean we don't need it.  It'd be a great way to fix the RCT3 lag to make it a 64-bit app with mulitprocessor support.

Early reports from QA on our initial RCT3 universal build have said performance is "night and day" better on Intel macs verse the Rosetta version.  We don't have plans to add SMP support but I think you'll be really happy with how the native version plays.
