OK I'll try that later. If I don't make it back, avenge my death.

Well guess what. I had forgotten the keyboard is in the Japanese format, and so I can't find the ~ key. I mean there is one, but not where it is on a normal English keyboard and thus I can't do the FPS thingy.

Try the key below escape, where the ~ key is on US keyboards. You might have to enable the console in the prefs, first.

Unfortunately that is the 1 key. Let me try again. If not back avenge death.

Edit: Nope, this isn't going to work. Just take my word for it that it looks great, plays smooth. :P

On a normal full-sized JP keyboard, perhaps so. If I were so inclined I would take a photo of my laptop keyboard, but I am in fact very lazy. Suffice to say on this thingy the key below Esc is 1. :shifty:

Even on a G5 keyboard (JP version), the key below the esc is a 1.

edit: Since my claim is worthless without pics, and since I had a moment, here it is:

What I want to know is how hot that thing is. Can this thing burn a hole in your pants?

Maybe not "burn a hole in your pants", but it'll probably cook an egg. Or not. But it does get quite warm.

One thing I did notice which I'm going to have to call Apple about, is the DVD drive in the machine does NOT play any sort of DVD movies. Movies that I've bought through proper channels, with the matching encoding (I'm region-2 as are the DVD movies I own). The error message is in Japanese so I'll have to translate it, but it's something like "could not find compatible media" or something along those lines. It came with a Matsupopsnizzlea DVD drive, and I've seen on some sites here that there appears to be similar problems reported. Anyway I have to call to find out what. That's actually pretty annoying.

edit: HAHAHAHAHA --> Matsupopsnizzlea.

It's Matsush.ita lol

This problem seems to have fixed itself when I did a clean wipe of the computer and did a re-install. The reason I did that was I installed Flash MX and that overwrote the FlashPlayer that was already installed, and therefore Safari wouldn't play Flash anymore. Now that I've reinstalled everything, everything works great.

On a scandinavian (and most europeans keyboards) the console is normally activated with the key next to the left shift (usually > and <), sometimes in combination with shift. I have no idea if a japanese keyboard has a key there at all or a longer shift key instead.
You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

In my past life perhaps I didn't read Japanese. However in this one I was born Japanese and so not only do I speak the language, I can read it too :P

so why cant you find the ~ key?

Edit: if for some reason on a Japanese keyboard they say "Tilla" instead of the ~ key then just look for Tilla.

It's there, but to press ~ requires pressing shift + 7. That doesn't bring up the watchmacallit thing in DOOM so I can get the frame rate.

Actually, on my G5 keyboard it's not even a shift+7, but a shift+~. Interesing. Or confusing.

Up until last night I had only re-played the game till the part where "all hell breaks loose". Last night I played it till I cleared the first stage. I was wondering if it would slow down once the monsters started appearing and the fighting started. No such worries necessary. Still smooth, still fast. Or "fast enough". Maybe some of you framerate junkies might not be so impressed, but I'm fine with it.

us "frame rate junkies" will turn it down to medium settings and get all the performance we want :).
