Hellish temps to go with the sights and sounds... a new level of versimilitude!

I'm going to assume the Hell levels are going to make the laptop hotter.

The MBP will look for any excuse to get hotter. its just its natural instinct.

My MBP is getting hot as well. Reminds me of my good old PowerBook G4 12".
But yeah, there's some serious horse power in that slim box and a pretty good
graphics card too.

I don't mind it, another good reason to not play 3 or more hours straight.
Or as Nintendo says it in Zelda - The Wind Waker: "Make a break every hour
you play and try to get some sleep as well."

Ah, the IntelliMouse has been upgraded to Unviersal Binary. Now I can use the mouse to its full potential. Felt like I was driving a truck before.

Also, the Crumpler bag with everything inside is FRICKING HEAVY and is doing my shoulders in. Perhaps I should lift weights more. I commute via train to work, you see. So I usually have to keep it on my shoulders for 45+ minutes.

Hey, here's a thing.

I needed to review a piece of kit that only worked with XP.

So I booted into XP on my MBP. Attached the hardware, ran the installer CD.

Great.

Then the installer CD unpacked a DLL or something that overwrote the CD drivers of the MacBook*. The installer, which was running off the CD, understandably quit in a fairly dramatic fashion. Cue the blue screen.

When, after a small amount of pain, I got XP restarted I had lost CD functionality so I wasn't able to use my handy-dandy BootCamp drivers CD. Internet search for the drivers gave me nothing.

Now, because I am a MacBook user, I was able to boot into OSX then insert the drivers CD and manually copy the .exe onto the XP partition. One restart later and I was ready to uninstall the dead driver package and install fresh. (Well, except the airport driver that needed to be added twice but that's another story).

My point is this: That whole episode took me around half an hour of fooling around in different OSes and such. Most of it spent looking at blue screens.

How long would it have taken on an actual Windows laptop?

*It was a TV tuner btw, no reason to assume it would have had any interest in CD drivers.

or even longer... because of the lack of ability to dual boot, and therefore the lack of ability to transfer the uninstaller across without having another computer and a USB stick.
