Don't worry, it won't have 3D support, making it useless for games.
Yeah, fully functional virtualization is probably two years or so off. 3-D gaming should be safe until then {famous last words}.

At this point, is the plan to release the game as-is (ie: direct PC port) or will Feral alter the game a little to keep it somewhat current with this year's WRC team structure?  For example, both Mitsubishi and Citroen pulled out of the 2006 WRC season and both teams were heavily featured in CMR 2005.

Is the Mac release going to reflect this in any way?

I'd be extremely surprised if the Mac publishing license allowed Feral to alter the game contents.  :glare:
Surely the company that created the game has secured their copyrights.

Thanks for answering that question, as Ari has stated you cannot change and add different vehicles and sponsors as all of the content has been created and signed off by the original developers legal team. Although we have a habit of adding in a few Mac extra features if possible we cannot stray way from the
original title in terms of content and game-play.

With the question of Citroen, Mitsubishi, Peugeot and other manufactures pulling out of official WRC competition. Kronos are everything but name the official Citroen team running the same WRC car as last year but without Active Differentials. Peugeot have also left WRC but the cars are all being heavily used by private drivers. Mitsubishi have been a fading force in the WRC and they left top class WRC racing in everything but name well before last season.

Quote

Tokyo, December 14, 2005? Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that it has decided to suspend participation in the FIA World Rally Championship series from 2006.

They missed the 2003 season entirely returned with a development car in 2004 and raced in some but not all of the rallies they then decided to leave the sport halfway through 2005 so the end of the of the 2005 season was less than spectacular. So the last real season IMHO for Mitsu was 2002.

Skoda have also left the WRC and are now run almost as a factory team under the Red Bull moniker. Next year should be more interesting with more teams returning but until the internal politics of the WRC and costs are solved I think we will see more independent "factory" teams like Kronos and Red Bull.

When you get down to it the best car is still the best, the Citroen Xara WRC and after that it is a battle between Ford and Subaru. Makes you laugh when you realise a car that has been mothballed by Citroen as it is to old is still beating the best new cars from the other manufacturers!! :)

If you wondered yes I am a fan of WRC rally :)

Cheers,

Edwin

Yeah, I'm guessing but I suppose Tuncer deleted the graphic after that "German Court Rules..." thread and other posts (yours included), so I went ahead and deleted the BB Code entry for it.  I thought it fell under Fair Use because Mr. Monopoly (or originally Uncle Pennybags) is a worldwide icon, a household word in an image sort of way, plus we weren't using it to make any sort of profit from it.  I took a large 133x135 color image and rendered it into black and white, than reduced the size, and finally smoothed the image with a couple filters and touched it up with a pencil tool at high magnification so it's not like I just kyped a smiley off the Parker Brothers forums.  I figured it was safe enough to use but I guess not.

Actually I think it does fall under Fair Use. Otherwise most of the avatars on the Net would be copyright infringement. :(

All games should have BUILT-IN GUI widesceen support!

Yup - Colin and Fable have full WS support built into the game. Imperial Glory does not due to engine restrictions.

Who cares?  It's not even out yet.  We'll get 2005 before 2007 comes out.  Plus 2005 is still gonna be the best racing game for Mac.

Pre-Order goes live once we have a firm ship date usually 4 to 6 weeks before we ship the game. I will post again in the thread when the announcement is made.

We are working hard to get it finished, good news is we will have a MultiPlayer demo as well
as a single player demo. :)

edddeduck,

Does a 1.67 GHz PowerBook with 2 gigs of RAM have a chance in hell of running CM2005 even with graphical settings turned down (now that you are getting closer to announcing a final ship date)?

My laptop happens to be a 1.67 Powerbook :) and I would say yes you should be able to play Colin although at this point I cannot say what level of graphics you will be able to run. If you have 2GB and the 128MB card you should be able to run with more that minimum settings although at what level I cannot yet say.

Edwin

Please find answer below (or on page 4 of the thread).

Thanks  :)
We would love to do something like that but unlike an original PC game where you might have a section finished so you can release a demo of that area, a Mac port is converting a finished game so the entire game and demo is finished from the beginning. The only task is to get it running correctly, once the demo is fine so is the full game and vice versa so being able to release the demo first is normally impossible. However we can and normally do release the Demo as soon as we have a finished version.

Cheers,

Edwin

Just to clarify this means the demo is finished and released around the time the game goes GM. GM means Golden Master and refers to the Master disk used in DVD/CD presses to make the thousands of copies you see in the stores. So this means the demo is often available 2/4 weeks before the game hits the shelves due to the delay between making the GM and getting finished units in the stores Worldwide.

Cheers,

Edwin
