The Mac version will not have Starforce as it does not exist on the Mac.
Secondly....
This is how StarForce works...
Starforce has 3 levels.
1: disc validation (like securom)
2: code hooks that check via disc validation at certain triggers used by the software
3: active online authorisation
most use number 2
... stuff deleted...
I know people have had issues with Starforce but this have mostly been either compatibility issues with motherboard CD drive combinations (not surprising if you think about the amount of motherboards and CD drives), or because they have image mounting software.
I agree that it is not the best solution and it appears to have some major issues on some machines but in a perfect world I would not see 100+ a day bit-torrent downloading of our games either.
And I guess in a perfect world a software protection company wouldn't post links in it's forum to bit-torrents
of a company's game that doesn't use it's protection system.

Progress is steady but unspectacular. I don't want to say anything else as I don't want to jinx anything but I can say we should have a lot more information and news on all our games in development over the coming weeks and months.
As I mentioned above I will post any cool titbits as and when in this thread.

You should see the whip scars we all have from our HR guy who believes in physical motivation,
that and the fact we get 1 day a month without gags on a rota system means most of us don't know what talky talky is but rest assured we are trying our best to get everything done. This week the PR guy has been threatened that he will be food for the rest of us if we don't finish soon.
So don't worry be happy

I have asked how much I can tell and show you guys right now, and I have been given my limits
I am allowed to say development has been steady over the transition period to
If I am a little quiet on the news it is normally because development is a lonely task at times, and if we are quiet it often means we are hunting

Yes I know you know, but most of the time you act as if you dont.
Too little too late. Its great that you take the time to write that this or that is dealyed, cancelled or changed and even sometimes why, but its not going to change the situation one bit once it comes to the coins in the pocket.
Online everyone is compassionate, but in real life....

Excuse me for acting as if I don't know, but I don't. What is killing mac gaming. Delays ?
As a software developer, I am rarelly surprised when a release date is way off. It IS popsnizzlety, but nothing new. And that's not just mac gaming, it's the whole software industry. Take Mozilla or Blizzard, to them the official release date is always When It Is Done. I agree though that in some case maybe they could throw the dog a bone, by releasing a demo before releasing the full game... or something.

Because unlike Photoshop, Flash or whatever, games have a tendancy to be outdated pretty quickly.
How much is a game like Nascar 2002 worth, when there is a copy of Nascar 2003 right next to it ?
So why should I buy an old game for the Mac OS, when I can have a new game for the Windows OS on my mac....
ahh porting buisness may die soon, and that might be for the better. Hopefully the porting houses will reshape for making original content.
