Friday, Ankama Studios announced that it's popular MMORPG Dofus will no longer require a subsription fee, and will be available to all user for free. Dofus is a flash based online roleplaying game with a huge following of over 250,000 players. The game features a fantasy setting, unique art style, and tactical style combat.
For more information, or to sign up for a free account, visit the Dofus website by clicking the link below.
It's worth noting that free accounts are limited to a certain area.
You can still play and fight with paid members, but you can't leave the village of Astrub. This means that a vast percentage of the content is not available.
With that being said, Astrub is not a bad place to be. There is a decent amount to do there and I think it's a much better trial than 7 days of unlimited access and then being prohibited from doing anything other than chatting and walking around.
Edit: While I haven't tried this out myself, apparently you can leave the town, but once you get out of the immediate vicinity, you're limited to just wandering and chatting, as mentioned above.
