This is a list is of current Mac Flight Sims. Admittedly the genre is one of the weaker areas of Mac gaming. If you know of any other Mac flight sims, I'd appreciate hearing about them, especially any OSX compatible flight sims. For OS9 flight sims, my only criteria is that they can still be purchased online and there is a link available for it.
Thanks!

IMG Flight Sim Round Up 2006

Planned
newAir Aces Online- new online flight sim.

OSX
Enemy Engaged http://www.feralinteractive.com/ee
Warbirds & Dawn of Aces http://www.totalsims.com/- primarily persistent online with solo elements.
X-Plane http://www.x-plane.com/- solo and multiplayer. Although all sorts of aircraft are modeled, last I heard there are no functional weapons and no damage modeling. I think of this as primarily a civil flight sim.

WWII Online http://www5.playnet.com/
Flight Gear http://www.flightgear.org/
F/A18 Iraqi Freedom http://www.graphsim....s-fa18-oif.html

Falcon 4.0 does not run on OS X, it's OS 9 only. It does run reasonably well under Classic though (read: better than most old games, but far from perfect). OpenGLide is also a MUST for playing, as software and 3dfx's Glide are the only rendering options.

X-Plane works on OS9 too. At least version 7.xx works on both OS9 and OSX.

I tried to launch X-Plane 8.xx on OS 9.2.2, but it informed me about old version of OpenGLSomething. System updater didn't fix it, so I wasn't able to launch the sim on OS9, maybe someone knows if it works.

Older versions are still available at Laminar Research store

Looked all over the place, looks like the only spot you can get Mac Falcon 4.0 anymore is on Amazon. Currently 3 sellers have it available. 2 brand new, 1 used.

Thanks Frost! If anyone knows where any other OS9 flight sims can be purchased online, I'd be happy to add them to the list.

Does anyone know if Fly! II ever made it to OSX? I thought it did but searching the net has been no joy. MacSoft no longer lists it so I'm inclined to remove it from the list.

Fly! II always has been OS 9 and OS X compatible.

The IMG Flight Sim Roundup Article is all most complete. I'm running down a few details such as which ones offer crossplatform multiplayer (not many). These are the Sims that will be featured:

• Don's Games (OS9)- Skyfighters 1945 & Dawn of Aces.
• Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Comanche versus KA-52 Hokum
• F/A18 Iraqi Freedom
• Flight Gear
• Falcon 4.0 (OS9/Classic)
• OSX Sky Fighter 1945
• Targetware
• Warbirds & Dawn of Aces
• WWII Online
• X-Plane

Falcon4 is possibly the greatest modern combat aircraft sim ever to appear on the Mac but my understanding is that it only runs in classic mode. These are the links I have for Falcon4:

Falcon 4.0 Headquarters http://www.f4hq.com/
Free Falcon http://www.freefalcon.com
Falcon 4.o Utility http://www.centromed...roducts/falcon/
Mac Falcon4 Page http://homepage.mac.com/macf4/
Mac Falcon4 Forum http://forums.delphi...2Fmacf4%2Fstart

Are there any active Mac Falcon4 players reading? If so, I'd like to know about any other good Falcon4 links that would help Mac players play this game. Thanks!

WWII Online. Any active players? I'd like to know if that game offers a solo offline mode with A.I. adversaries?
Thanks!!

Is anyone playing WWII online? Communictions with the publisher are unreliable. If your playing, can you tell me if there is any solo game play? And is there any A.I. controlled vehicles.

Thanks!

1. Not really
2. Not really

1. You can download it and play offline in an area known as "Area 51", where the developers often test new vehicles. However, you will be alone.

2. The only AI in the game comes in the form of anti-tank and anti-infantry emplacements, positioned at each town in the game. These are very weak and are easily defeated without player support.

Perhaps a bit of attention might get a port of SU-27 Flanker 2.5, a highly regarded jet sim nearly as old and presumably low-priced as EE: Comanche/Havok but an excellent sim. (It was originally 2.0 until new planes and features such as the the carrier variant SU-34 and sea ops were patched in for free, then later discs sold as 2.5).

The flightgear folks have just released version 0.9.9 and I must say I was stunned by the improvements in the OSX version available online at ...

http://macflightgear.sourceforge.net/

While the cockpits are still nothing to write home about, the SFO bay area scenery easily matches X-Plane 8, the bridges across the bay to Oakland/Emeryville etc are much better done in FG! The flight model even seems more realistic in the default 737 in FG than any of the 737 models for X-Plane (and I fly all the 737 freeware stuff) ... i.e., a bit more like a heavy metal plane. Weightier. But alas the A320 model doesn't run for OSX yet. Definitiely worth another look for Mac flight sims folks ... and the price (free) is unbeatable.

I came across a copy of Fly! II for the Mac the other day. Any major issues folks had
running this on either OS9 or OSX?
