Computer and Video Games is reporting that a cover screenshot of an Italian magazine on a blog has revealed the first pieces of information regarding the highly anticipated World of WarCraft expansion. According to the article, the name for the expansion will be World of WarCraft: The Burning Legion. In addition, there may be a character level increase in the next installment of the world's most popular MMORPG.

Admittedly it's only a few beans but blog site Kotaku.com is carrying a scan of the cover of Italian magazine The Games Machine which proudly proclaims "World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade". And then a bit below that text in the native language which translates to "Blizzard astonishes all carrying us to the seventieth level." Woot!
The curtain of mystery will be lifted on the World of WarCraft expansion at the upcoming BlizzCon which is being held October 28-29 2005.

This is old news. One of the editors on 1up posted some info early, it wasn't much and was quickly taken down. WoW will be seeing a new race for horde and alliance and a new starting zone. Increasing the level cap is a possibility but tricky since talents are balanced for 60. Everything else is speculation though we shall know soon enough when blizzcon kicks off soon.

The consensus at the moment is that the extra 10 levels will be 10 levels of a "Hero" class - Not 10 levels of your existing class. At the moment the talent trees and specifically designed and tweaked so that only 51 points will make them work in a balanced way so this seems fairly obvious. I just hope we get a LOT more endgame content with the new patch, PvP is all well and good but I'd like to see more non-raid endgame stuff for those of us who can't join up with MC/BWL guilds - and those of us also in Australia who get screwed with pings/timezone differences

With respect to the non-raid endgame stuff, "Hear, hear!"  I've pretty much stopped playing my level 60 pally because I couldn't devote 5 hours every other day to a 20 or 40 person raid in order to get "Dragon Kill" points in my guild that would let me bid on the coolest items.

When Blizzard announced the new Silithus content there was both solo, 5-man 20-40 group content. After the release people quickly noticed that the "solo" part was edited out. I don't remember if there was much of a comment from blizzard even when people found the original update information on the european site (which has since been changed).

Sure there will be more solo content but I doubt it will be sufficient. People chew through solo content at insane speeds. At the end of the day, Raid content is the bread and butter of this and other MMOs. So more then anything, look forward to a lot more raid junk.

Beh I hate raids.
