Actually it was self help made really easy because I was no longer having fun. Why did I last for 15 months? Social interaction, varied landscapes, group dynamics, and neat attack and spell sets makes this game go. It's the reason I was able to play for 15 months before hitting the (repetition) wall. :)

We'll make a concerted effor to regain your patronage with the expansion pack.

Your characters should still be waiting online should you decide to come back!

Thanks for playing and hope you had fun with it.

Thanks Rob! I appreciate the sentiment. I have the highest regard for Blizzard and WoW. After all WoW was the first RPG that was able to sink its hooks into me. :)

1) Make PvP gear-ing up as viable as Huge Uber-Raid gearing up

2) More casual player conent.  I dont want to belong to Huge Uber-Raid guild, and as it stands, if i dont, i cant compete.  Fix please.

those are your two big things.

Didnt know you were "Tigerclaw".  Glad you work for Blizz though, you guys are always helpful.

WOW (no pun intended) this is the first time I have heard someone from Blizzard (if it is So) appear to be interested in a non-defensive way, toward player feed back, especially regarding casual content.

IF so here is a hopefully simple solution.

Create Instances that are designed for 1-5 players that changed their layout, as occurred with Diablo and DII.  This allowed allot more repeat playtime, because at least the landscape was different and therefore where the mobs where coming from and chests etc.

The smaller groups would allow more stable groups to do instances.  I have had to give up on many more instances than I have completed just because people dropped out (started fighting etc).   Some instance I just gave up on completely because it just seemed the people where never mature enough to last the time it took.  In one, someone (after getting what they wanted) intentionally wiped the whole party intentionally (HAHA)!   They thought it was funny!  Another few hours wasted!  In D-I there were even random encounters with boss types with their own "mini" area.

Bottom line - something you can do (getting group together and doing the instance) in less than 2 hours!  Or even do solo if high enough and still get EXP!  If these were linked to the Ubiquitous "FARMING" Quests this would make them even more palatable!  Though I think anytime you create a quest where you know someone is going to have to spend more than 2 hours collecting the same thing is just insulting! Some have taken me close to 6 hours!

If there were something even marginally similar to this I would definitely re-subscribe.  As it is I am waiting to see what the Expansion offers, but with the recent comments on the official blizzard forums do not give me much hope.  To date it appears that any suggestion that the game lack casual content is seen as heresy.

I'm out of Wow. As you can see the last update I made here was 9 months ago. Is anyone looking at this post? Does anyone care if it disappears? Does any active WoW player want to take over ownership of the thread?
Thanks!

About time for an update I think. Cataclysm has brought about many changes and consequently many websites are just so out of date. I'll throw in the core websites that WoW players go to, in-game, for quick information:

Battlenet

This is where you go now for the ARMORY. Type the name of the character and then select a realm as necessary etc. I bookmark my main so that all i need do in the browser command line is subsitute the other players toon (aka character) for my name. Forget about the old Armoury pathname and WoW Heroes is no longer actively maintained. The best information for Arenas and some non-walkthrough information on dungeons is available here, third party sources considered.

Obviously this takes you to the WoW forums too.

WoW Popular

This website is where you go to see how others are building their toons. Specifically it is very strong on talent points. If you deviate from the norm then you should have a good reason why. With Cataclysm the jury is still out on many character types, especially Resto Shammies and there is still debate about Frost DK weapons, as two examples that cookie-cutter builds are a bit less likely in Cata.

WoW Pedia

These days this is the main Wiki style "goto" for all manner of WoW information.

WoW Head

But WoW Head is absolutely indespensible for the most up to date user comments on what to do etc. Both websites compiment each other nicely. I go to WoW Pedia first for the general information and then to WoW Head for detailed up to the minute user comments to steer me clear of problems and what not.

Dungeon maps are mostly provided in game now. There is no single reliable website yet for walkthroughs and detailed dungeon information as even the new Cata dungeons themselves are evolving. The repositioning of many existing dungeons and tweaks to loot, bosses, mobs and accessibility has obsoleted most fan websites. WoW Head is however up to date and many helpful comments have been posted although they are rather truncated compared to many of the old walkthrough websites.

For the pro gamers who wish to really crunch statistics and dps numbers to build the perfect character or a toon at least capable of entering Raids then the following website is famously indespensible. Every raider has probably been here at least once. The name says it all!...

Elitist Jerks

Most players use Addons:

Curse

Is the main site players use. Since the advent of Cataclysm we no longer use the Gear Score addon. It is dead. Period, although it still has a core rump of enthusiasts. In game, Blizzard has now provided us with an imperfect but superior "Item Level" to go by. The revamped Armoury also assists in quick gear checks too.

Quests in Cata are more heavily "phased" and we are really pushed to do these quests in Cata, at the moment, in order to "gear up". Many players complain about not being able to find quests. The best solution is the "Quest Completist" addon. You can find it at the above website, to save bloating this post.

And....

that is really it. You don't need a huge list of websites but what I do is book mark pages I am regularly using from within the above range. Remember, there are a lot of "solo effort" websites out there that do not have the benefit of the time and energy of these websites to keep things up to date.

Cataclysm 4.2 was released days ago and the previous post is still relevant and correct.

Something I didn't include previously was where to go for information on BIS (Best in Slot) for equipping gear, enchanting each item and gemming. Enchanting and gemming is definitely very important since Cataclysm came out, and in comparison you would now consider Wrath of the Lich King enchants/gems to be of marginal benefit back then when you hit level 80.

For level 85s, the best source of information in this regard is Elitist Jerks. Very condensed tables of information for all classes and talent specialisations. A bit light on for non raiding, especially PvP as the website really emphasises raiding.

For PvP perhaps and certainly the sub-85 players, the best source of information is the official Blizz forums. Each class/role combination usually has one good "sticky". Unfortunately there is no standard format so you'll have to do a bit of searching through most of the stickied threads.

Cata 4.2 also introduced a journal listing dungeon and raid boss abilities. It doesn't tell you what you need to do, just what the boss will do. If you are in a new group you still have to figure out how to work around a bosses unique abilities. In other words, you are not being spoonfed the mechanics of the fight, you must still discover this.

---------------------------------

The WoWhead forums are a nice supplement to Wowhead and have really come along of late. Worth watching as a source of useful information and could potentially further dilute the need to go to Wowpedia. With Cata, Wowhead is certainly the pre-eminent of the two websites.
