Gamerz Edge recently posted a review of Sharpnel Games' Salvo!, a turn based strategy title focusing on naval warfare in the age of wooden ships and billowing sails. Although the game only managed to conquer a 5.7 out of 10, Gamerz suggested the title might still appeal to certain strategy gamers with an interest in the game's subject.

From the review:

I have to give this game a lot of credit on its variety. You can select between a variety of naval factions including those from Holland, England, France, as well as America. Within these factions there are a variety of different types of ships including fire ships and schooners and merchantmen ships. Notably, these ships are quite different and have their uses in different strategies. Speaking of strategy you want always want to try to pound your enemy from afar with cannons; instead, you'll find it almost necessary at times to try and get close to enemy ships and board them. Having done that you can deploy your crew to fight theirs.
