What do you think of For Racing 2? I'd like the opinion of people who love racing games, preferrably racing sims.
On the scale of realism, is it like GPL or more like Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed? Or even Need for Speed Underground?
Does it keep you busy for a couple of weeks?
Does it work well with racing wheels, force feedback?
Thx!

Quick comments on FR2.
It's an arcadey racing game with task-based elements similar to the Project Gotham Racing series on Xbox. Fun and varied with loads of unlockable elements.
The control can be a bit touchy. I strongly advise the use of a steering wheel or a good controller (as the reqs suggest)...keyboard control is fine at first, but as you progress it becomes inadequate.
There really isn't anything else out there on Mac like it as far as commercial releases are concerened. And for $19.99, you can't go wrong by buying it.

Having just tried the recently released Universal patch, I must say I'm impressed! I can finally at long last run the game with all the eye-candy turned on :-D It screamed on my iMac and even ran admirably well on my MacBook. Good job Feral, this and seeing how well the Colin McRae demo ran, I'm almost starting to believe in the porting business again :-P I'll be looking for your games next time I visit an Apple store.
I get a totally white screen if I try to go above 1024*640 resolution though... this is weird seeing that I can play UT2k4 on a 1680*1050 resolution.

Like other posters, I found Ford Racing 2 beautiful but very touchy at least playing with just a keyboard that even tweaking keyboard response time on System Preferences couldn't overcome. Playing with a keypad might make it more enjoyable, though I feel like a game should be at least somewhat playable if you happen not have a game pad. For example, Ferral's latest racing game Colin McRae Racing is quite playable with a keyboard, but it is more enjoyable with a game pad.

FR2 is an all around good arcade racer. It is a lot better when played on a nice steering wheel and large lcd setup. The sound isn't horrible either. Some cool touches in the background like planes flying and fireworks, just to name a few, add to the cool arcade feel. The lighting is decent also. I have unlocked most of the vehicles and the racing can be hectic at times. Too bad there is no damage model. Also, a few more camera views would have been nice.
